Q & As

HP Envy 120 e-All-in-One Wireless Air Printer 4.3 5 51 51
Troublesome I agree with the previous review - this is the most troublesome printer I have ever bought! it took ages to set up, constantly loses the wireless connection and eats ink as if it is going out of fashion. It was expensive to purchase and is even more expensive to run. I am more than disappointed and it is certainly the worst purchase I have ever made from, the otherwise always reliable, John Lewis. 01 October 2014
awful looks nice and prints well.. when you can get it to work and when it hasn't run out of it., Drops the connection constantly and uses loads of ink which makes it very expensive. I also get a lot of messages about using counterfeit cartridges when they are not and so on. The time I thought i would save connecting to the printer is more than taken up.. it really takes a long time.. to get the printer to connect. Don't get this printer is you want a stress free life however nice it looks. 22 September 2014
A Printer Worthy of Envy A truly excellent printer. It is totally interactive and intuitive in its working. It found my internet connection immediately and guided me effortlessly through the setup procedure. It connected to my iMac with the same ease. It is virtually quiet when printing. The print quality is also worthy of note. All in all, the best printer I have bought over many years. I can recommend it without hesitation. 16 September 2014
So far excellent I have only recently purchased this printer from John Lewis but so far it has exceeded our expectations. Its a nice compact size whilst it looks and feels to be of a great build quality. Set up was very simple, connects to WIFI no problems and its functions are very user friendly. Print outs are excellent although it does drink the ink. Having said that most places sell their own generic hp inks for half the price, but whatever make you use, buy the XL cartridges so the ink doesn't expire during the all important last print. Scanning was nice and easy and for home use I don't think you would ever use all of its functions. Definitely one of the best in its class. 12 September 2014
So far so good..... Very simple to set up, very logical. So far we've printed various text pages but haven't done photos yet. Text pages print very quickly (compared to our old printer) and it is very sharp and clear to read. The wifi is good and a novelty to print from another room! Have scanned some pages of a letter to forward by email, that was simple too and nice and clear. Scanning and printing of photos will be next..... 09 September 2014
Greedy! A great all-rounder! Very easy to use and set up once we had a conversation with the support at JL. It didn't recognise the ink which came with it! One grumble- it was supposed to come with 3/4 ink but ran out very quickly. Would recommend . 09 September 2014
irritating - sensitive to type of internet router When I first bought this printer it was easy to install and worked well for a few weeks, then it started to disconnect while printing or even just disconnect (message to computer - 'computer no longer connected to the scanner'). After re-setting the wifi connections on the printer numerous times my irritation factor hit the roof. I am self-employed and the printer is a necessary part of my office so it needs to work. Looking on the internet I find a number of other people have the same problem. Apparently the wifi connecting bit of the printer will disconnect if the router is a dual frequency router (e.g. of the type used by Virgin), and this can happen quite frequently during the day. Secondly i now also understand that HP recommend that the printer is at least 6 foot away from the router, which in my small flat is virtually impossible given sockets and suitable space etc. I think this should be noted on the box lid in large print! Finally, a couple of months ago (just 11 months old) the printer stopped working altogether mid print. HP support replaced the printer with a 'reconditioned' one. HP support are friendly and to a degree helpful, but I cannot spare the time on the phone trying to sort out these (to me) lurking technical issues with this product. HP tell me that I will have to ask Virgin to change the router setting and given the previous standards of service of Virgin I am not hopeful in that direction. I could be left with an intermittent printer. I will not be seeking another wifi connecting printer any time soon. Oh, the printer cartridges show empty well before they really are empty and given that they are quite expensive this is another irritation. 09 September 2014
Fed up Looks great, prints well but constantly drops the connection between the printer and laptop via the wireless, which is the main reason why I bought it in the first place. Drives me insane... 08 September 2014
