Humax HDR-2000T Smart 500GB Freeview+ HD Digital TV Recorder 3.6 5 15 15
Fine but one big drawback for me This product gets so much right. I like the programme guide and the menu is simple. It is also easy to record. But I like to listen to the radio through the TV, particularly when I'm working at home. On my old system, the radio page used to show which song was playing. But this Humax insists on going to a really annoying jumping-clock screensaver which is distracting and doesn't let me see the screen. Apparently, there's no way to switch it off. 16 July 2014
Good Much better than the previous model (PVR9300) Easy to use. Red light does not always change to blue when switched on other than that VERY GOOD 09 July 2014
Fairly satisfied We have had this Humax for a month now and it seems OK. It replaced an old Digifusion box whose hard drive gave up the ghost. The plus points of this new box are: Series recording. Energy saving once in standby as the hard drive powers down (unless recording in standby). Very quiet operation when on. Facility to check hard drive for errors. The negative points: Takes at least 20 seconds to come out of standby, although it has saved energy as the hard drive was off, see above point about this. The menu fonts are very dim and small which is a pain. Has not recorded some programmes for unknown reason. It also has a very backward issue inasmuch it cannot record the channel it is tuned to in the background (time shift recording) whilst a recording is being played. We thought we hadn't set a setting but in the troubleshooting section it states that the machine cannot do this. A very backward step seeing the old box could do this. I don't think we would have bought this set if we had known this, we were going for the Panasonic but that machine does not have a SCART socket which we must have. We have not tried the Internet part of the set. Due to this we cannot give this set full marks. 01 June 2014
Happy Bunny I love this. It's very easy to use - even a techno-phobe like me can operate it. I hardly ever watch anything in real time now. 13 May 2014
Not bad but not great Being used to Virgin Media's Tivo, this is a big step down, But I am getting used to it. The main negative point is that where you have a menu within a menu, it is near impossible to see the options. The search feature is useful, and I would have returned it without this feature. I do like that the optical out does output in dolby surround. 14 March 2014
J Lewis Guarantee Bought this Humax from J Lewis because of their 2 year guarantee. Found that Item already has 2 year guarantee from manufacturer So JL are not giving you anything more than your local stores.. 12 March 2014
Has some serious faults... We made good use of other people's reviews (largely positive) before buying this PVR so hope the following also helps someone. 1. During a very frustrating set-up of the PVR we found several instances where the colours of the buttons to press on the remote control were wrong in the manual . . 2. We then found that if a program was put on “Pause”, on restart the sound dropped out for up to seven seconds. This was eventually fixed by Humax support telling us how to do a lengthy manual retune 3. For some reason fast forward and fast back do not work on radio recordings - as it did on our old Humax PVR. 4. Internet access does not work: Since this was the main reason we bought this model, we were very disappointed with this. Firstly we cannot connect to our wifi without a Humax dongle which we have to buy separately Secondly, we tried instead to connect the PVR direct to router via an Ethernet cable; but Humax software does not allow passwords of over 8 characters in length!! We cannot change our 13 character password issued by our ISP. This means it is not worth us buying a dongle since it will be thwarted by the same software limitation. Humax support knows this is a big problem but does not know when this will be fixed... 5. We discovered at the weekend that the 2000T cannot record BBC4 HD giving the report “Recording failed: no signal”. Our Panasonic TV gets good HD signal strength and after taking us through various tests Digital UK has advised us today that this is definitely a Humax problem.... 20 January 2014
Another good box from humax Ordered from website and picked up from local Waitrose two days later. Very pleased with this. It's much smaller than my previous Humax recorder and although it does take a lot longer to spring to life when you hit the on button, the tuning and setting up the tv portal were easy as expected and there's lots more to it (iplayer. youtube, apps, HD, twin tuner etc) Great price from JL too. 15 January 2014
