Here's to a rejuvenated new you
If you've over indulged during the festive period or just need a little me-time, detoxing is a good way to give your body and mind a much needed breather. There are many benefits of having a detox in the comfort of your own home. It can enhance a sluggish circulation, promote the elimination of toxins and provide general wellness in mind, body and spirit. Furthermore, giving yourself a treat at home means that you can take all the time you need and not feel haggard and rushed.
Here are my go-to tips for a rejuvenated spirit:
Remember the mood lighting!
After you've turned off the BlackBerry and TV, and locked the husband and cats away, then dim the lights. Bring out a few candles and place them around the house and in the bathroom. Choose a scent that calms and soothes your spirit. For me, the scent of roses like this one from Diptyque always makes me feel centred and tranquil.
There's always time for tea
They do say "a cup of tea solves everything". Well Kusmi's detox tea is made from green china tea with reviving lemongrass, making it the perfect combination to detox and reinvigorate the body. Alternatively, to give your complexion a boost, try Neal's Yard Beautiful Skin Tea, which is made with a collection of delicious berries like rosehip, goji berry, hibiscus, bilberry and sweet orange.
Dry brush exfoliating
Using a dry brush over the body will improve lymphatic circulation. Try this skin brush; it will exfoliate dead skin cells and gives the skin a calming effect. Start at your feet and brush towards the heart in small circles. Best done in the morning or before a shower.
Exfoliating in the bath or shower
Give Bliss's body bar a go. It comes in a refreshing lemon and sage scent with added bits of loofah and stimulating massaging nubs which helps smooth cellulite. A soothing bath soak can easily restore an overworked body. Run a handful of Dead Sea bath salts under a tap. It has natural salt and mineral extracts that soothe away the tensions of the day. Or try AVEDA's Stress-Fix Soaking Salts , which are infused with the relaxing scent of lavender.
Relaxing body oil
Finally, finish off with calming and nourishing body oil like Origins Calm to Your Senses bath and body oil or Dr.Hauschka Lavender body oil. Smoothing it over your body after a warming bath will provide a hydrating moisturising barrier on the skin and give you a deep relaxing sleep.
I feel better already!
