Copy Producer,

Wouldn't it be great if you could take advantage of off-peak energy costs by running your wash cycle during the night? Or simply relaxing in front of the TV without disturbance from a noisy dryer? Well with Quiet Mark you can.

Research by John Lewis reveals that almost half (49%) of Brits consider sound an important factor in their purchasing decision when buying home technology appliances. This increases to 62% of those with an open plan kitchen, lounge, or dining room.

To find out if the product you’re buying is quiet, just look out for the Quiet Mark.

What is Quiet Mark?

Launched in 2012 by Poppy Szkiler, Quiet Mark was a response to public complaints received by the Noise Abatement Society’s 24/7 national noise helpline. People’s main concern was excessive noise made by household appliances that invade the structure of everyday life.

Founded in 1959 by Szkiler’s grandfather John Connell, the Noise Abatement Society is an organisation that has worked closely with the government and various industries over the last 50 years. Their aim is to abate ‘excessive and unnecessary noise’ in the workplace and in our home environments, for a calmer, more peaceful way of living.

How quiet is quiet?
