Safe and sound
Safety plays a vital role when making your home a secure environment for your baby. Babies don’t stay small for very long and will soon be exploring their surroundings with no fear whatsoever. With that in mind, it’s well worth looking around your home to see if you can spot any potential hazards to which you’d previously have been oblivious!
Monitors
New mums like to feel close to their babies at all times, especially when it’s time to move them into their own room. All our monitors are designed to reassure parents by enabling them to monitor their child from another room.
And if you’d like to have an even more sophisticated system where you can watch as well as listen to your baby, then a digital video monitor is just the thing.
Playpens
Playpens are fantastic for keeping baby in a safe place while Mum or Dad get on with other chores or just have a well deserved rest! Safety gates
Safety gates to block off stairs or rooms like the kitchen aren’t usually required until baby becomes more active at around 10 months, but they can be fitted sooner if there are pets in the home - or to keep any over-enthusiastic grandparents at bay! They’re either pressure mounted or fixed, but can sometimes be found with both features. Fireguards
Fireguards are another product we’re asked about regularly. I would recommend the Clippasafe Extendable Fireguard as it’s easily assembled and fixes securely to the wall. It’s suitable for gas, electric and domestic wall-mounted fires, with or without a surrounding hearth, and it folds flat for easy storage.
General safety
Children naturally become more inquisitive as they grow, and all of a sudden things like sockets, cupboards and fridges become very interesting. Investing in some child proof deterrents can prove pricey if you buy them all separately, but for just £15 the John Lewis Safety Pack contains a comprehensive assortment of products to block baby’s access to potentially hazards.

The last product I’d like to mention is cat nets. Designed to fit over cots, cotbeds, prams or pushchairs, they give baby a safe protected place to be - Tiddles or any other furry friends will have to make alternative sleeping arrangements!
