Bought this several years ago and did a little sewing. After a dry spell of inspiration / motivation have started a little quilting. I had the zipper foot installed. Like an idiot, I forgot, and tried a zig-zag and bent the needle!! I started shopping around for new feet and needles. It made me realise what a bargain this machine is. It comes with enough feet to meet most needs. It also has a small storage compartment. It's nice to have a complete package that you can use straight away without having to go out and buy additional products.
PS. I eventually found the accessories and now store them in the integrated drawer.

I purchased this machine to replace my older model, what a difference it is so quiet & easy to use. The attachments are easy to connect, the manual clear & simple to follow.

I purchased this machine to replace my very old Singer machine and I am absolutely delighted with it. It is extremely easy to thread, control, use etc., and, it seems to be able to cope very well with heavier weight fabric such as upholstery fabric.
The instructions are easy to follow and there seems to be quite a few 'helpers' on Youtube and various websites etc.
The machine feels quite compact and light enough to transport around but, I could be comparing this to my ancient Singer!
The various feet are very simply swapped over by the user friendly push button system and the see-through and easy to fill spool is brilliant - i.e. no more running out of thread mid-project!
This machine does a lot for it's money - I probably won't use it to it's full potential but, it isn't complicated in any way and, if you are feeling a bit adventurous, there are even more feet/bits you can add on when desired.
I would recommend this machine to just about everyone and at every level of sewing. N.B. I know someone who paid a lot more money for a really more complicated machine and they wish they have purchased this instead.

As an experienced sewer and having been taught by my mother who was a professional dressmaker with a number of high end fashion houses it was time to change the much used Singer machine. I researched and reviewed several machines before settling on this one. The features are easy to use. Love the automatic needle threader. The eyesight is not what it was. Not being able to see the eye in the needle a challenge. I found that I no longer need to insert an invisible zip manually as there is now a foot for that so no longer need to keep close to the zip. I did not need the 100's of different stitches other machines feature so this was definitely the best machine for my needs.
Annette at the Kingston was so helpful. Spending a not insignificant amount of time with me. With a 'get to know your machine' session booked for a couple of weeks time this is a great service. I don't need to be taught to sew however to have the opportunity to spend time getting familiar with my new machine this is a fantastic service. My only comment with this is that it does mean I need to make 2 journeys to the store as I was told I would have to buy the machine before I could book the session. A little inconvenient as I had already selected which one I wanted. Still I am sure I will be able to add to the accessories for my new 'friend' and already have my JL shopping list written.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nipandtuck Superb machine!
I bought this sewing machine online, having never seen it, but knew what I was looking for in a machine, having owned one for over 40 years, and being an experienced sewer. The reviews (and also Which reports) convinced me that this was the one to go for, and I have not been disappointed. I ordered on Saturday, it was delivered on the following Wednesday, and by Thursday morning was in full use! I had an old Frister & Rossman which died on me (probably just needed an overhaul) but I decided that it was time for a new. very lightweight model which could do everything my trusty old faithful could do. And I have not been disappointed! Everything about it is so much better than the old machine - the instructions are so clear and explicit, even a child could follow them. It's so quiet, and I like the numbered instructions on the machine for threading, the easy bobbin winding and loading - in fact everything about this machine is just brilliant, as was the ordering/delivery. I can't recommend it highly enough to any beginner, or even an experienced sewer. It's the best machine I have ever owned - and also the lightest - the predecessor to the Frister and Rossman was a very reliable but heavy, Cresta) This machine is so much better than either of those, and I love it! So pleased with my choice - it's fabulous!

For years I had been struggling with a second hand machine, the bobbin and tension were a nightmare. I went along to the Cribbs Causeway branch intending to just buy a cheap, basic model. After a chat with one of the assistants who was informative but not pushy, I decided on this machine. A little more than I was going to spend but boy I am glad I bought it. It is such an easy machine to use and because of this it has rekindled my love of sewing. I think it is a great machine for both beginners and intermediate sewers. The only thing I wish it had is a blanket stitch but this really is a minor thing. So I say buy it, you won't regret it.

Very pleased with this sewing machine. I was replacing a machine which was years old and the difference is amazing.
I wasn't sure which one to buy but took the advice of the sales assistant who was very helpful and advised me well.
