Product information

Garden games are synonymous with Great British heritage so why not get outside and find out why they've been around for centuries. This superior garden badminton set is designed for 2-4 players, so it'll provide hours of fun for the whole family.

The beginnings of badminton can be traced to 18th century British India, where it was created by British military officers. The game was taken back to England by retired officers, where it developed and rules were set out.

Jaques have been making badminton sets for over 100 years. This is the finest set they make, with deluxe rackets and presented in a beautiful, handmade wooden box.

Housed in a handmade wooden box, the set contains:

  • 4 alloy head rackets
  • Deluxe all-weather net with guy ropes
  • Steel posts
  • 3 heavy weight outdoor badminton shuttles
70 x 25 x 9cm (boxed)

Editors Notes

Quintessentially British, and truly a family company, Jaques has been passed down from one generation to the next through 6 generations. The company is still run by members of the Jaques family today, so it's perhaps fitting that Jaques invented the Happy Families game.

Jaques is the oldest games and sports manufacturer in the world, having started in 1795 with Thomas Jaques at the helm.

Jaques consistently draw on their British heritage and their sense of family values in creating beautifully crafted and luxurious games that the whole family can play.

Q & As

Rated 2 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not so good product Expensive and otherwise good set is let down by very poor quality net - this is the same plastic netting which is used on Jacques badminton sets costing a third of the price. One summer of being left out on the lawn will usually see the plastic netting disintegrate into an unsightly mess requiring repair. The problem appears to be caused by photo-decomposition in direct sunlight. The makers need to get on top of this problem. 31 August 2011
