Product information

UP wristbands from Jawbone combine wristband and mobile app to help you better understand how you sleep, move and eat so you can make informed decisions on your lifestyle to help you feel your best.

Key Features

  • The wristband is smooth and flexible to provide you with comfort when wearing it. Rain, splash, sweat and shower resistant, it can go with you almost anywhere, though it’s recommended that you remove it before swimming. It also features a battery life of up to 10 days, helping you to get the most out of your band.

  • UP tracks your sleep, your activity and your food and drink intake and then syncs the information with your Android or iOS device through the supplied cable to analyze the data gathered and provide meaningful insights through easy to understand visualisations. The app uses the information to help you set daily goals to improve your lifestyle and tracks your progress over time.

  • It uses a precision motion sensor and powerful algorithms to track your steps, distance travelled, calories burned, and active and idle time, giving you a complete picture of your activity for the day and provides accurate insights based on your age, gender, height and weight.

  • UP uses Actigraphy to monitor your sleep, sensing your micro-movements and using advanced algorithms to determine how many hours you slept, how long it took you to fall asleep, time spent in light versus deep sleep, and how many times you woke during the night. You’ll begin to notice patterns in your sleep that can dictate the way you feel later in the day.

  • The UP App tracks your food intake with as much detail as you want: you can simply take a photo of what you eat, or log the information on a nutrition label, and UP will map the foods you log to daily percentages and encourage a healthy and balanced diet.

  • You can also set a Smart Alarm to silently wake you at the ideal moment in your sleep cycle, to help you feel refreshed, while Idle Alerts will remind you to move when you’ve been sitting for too long.

  • The app's home screen acts as your daily dashboard, giving you a location to quickly check your own progress, as well as see how your friends are doing.

  • You can also use the app to share your summaries and progress through Facebook and Twitter and connect with friends who use the app through your address book, email look and choose what other people see.

Jawbone UP, Activity and Sleep Tracking Wristband 4.5 5 8 8
Great wellbeing gadget Bought the jawbone for my husband six weeks ago. It tracks activity via number of steps so this has really encouraged extra walking as he wants to get to his target every day. Also show calorific burn for activity and non active phases. The sleep monitor is great too. He had a couple of nights where it didn't work but must have been teething trouble as all fine now. It encourages early nights! All in all, great product and helps you to focus on looking after yourself a little more! 20 March 2014
Love it For a change I did some research on wearable tech (normally I just buy and then learn!) and I narrowed it down to the Jawbone and one other. Clearly this one won and so far I am very pleased with it. It's light, incredibly comfortable and I think it looks pretty good too. The user interface is excellent and incredibly easy to use and the Jawbone very simple to set up. Syncing is quick and simple and I am very impressed with the battery life - 10 days is over and above what I would expect. I love the sleep pattern monitor, in fact I love everything about this gadget, as someone else said, it can become addictive. Very pleased. 13 February 2014
Very Interesting Device The device was present and I didn't even know the existed before. Definitely a very interesting device accompanied by an excellent app. Sync method is a little unusual but easy. I little nervous having read a number of reviews where they stop working but bought from JL for there 2 year g'tee 14 January 2014
This is an amazing piece of kit! I just love this piece of kit, in everyway! Over the last few years the weight has been creeping on and short of the occasional sports camp i have failed to stop the gain. I decided enough was enough and having seen one of these little lovelies on display recently I thought it would give me a good base from which to start getting fit and to help me identify exactly what I was dealing with. I'd also noticed that I was tending to wake in the mornings unrefreshed. Well, what an eye-opener! I am amazed at how little movement I make during periods throughout the day and how much my sleep can vary. I am VERY competitive so having sleep and step goals is a real driver for me, and having used this UP for around 4 weeks I can see I am making good steady progress. Maintainable progress. I can log my food intake and understand my calorific intake quite easily. I know I could do this with pen & paper anyway, but that was never going to be a go-er for me. There is a minor quirk when using the barcode reader sometimes, but the software is sufficiently flexible as to be able to correct things later. Not a showstopper. I love that the band wakes me in the morning and I dont have to stretch to reach my too distant, too loud alarm clock. I love that it only wakes me, not the whole house. My sleep is improving and I am getting lots more sleep. I researched other pedometers (seems wrong to call this baby a pedometer - it's so much more) and there were elements i didn't like with them. I have seen some people review the UP and say it changed their lives. Well, i can see how it could. For me it is making a signifcant difference to my daily life and i am happy to say that i have managed to stop the creep of the weight gain and this no longer just feels like luck. If I could make 1 change it would be to include a function to add steps to my total when I have been unable to wear the band - when taking part in martial arts classes perhaps. Not cheap, but worth every penny. 29 October 2013
Great product! I've only had my UP band a few weeks and already I'm loving it! Although you can't see the progress of your data on your app until you synch it, within a few seconds you get a thoroughly detailed picture of how well you've slept (light sleep, deep sleep & even when you got up to go to toilet!) and how active you've been through the day. I find myself taking the stairs instead of the lift just to increase my step count for the day. I'm not a gym bunny so this is perfect just to give you enough info to make you think more about how to be a bit more energetic. The food library is pretty good but the best thing about it is that it shows you a breakdown of the carbs/fibre/sugar, etc in the foods you've eaten against what you should eat per day. An easy traffic light system indicates how much you have had/should have of any one item. I find this a great way to motivate myself to eat healthily in the evenings, as I now check how well I'm doing on the carbs/protein during the day and then if any one section is pretty high against my daily allowance, I plan a meal without that item. Much better than calorie counting! i've been raving so much my sister has got one too :) 30 September 2013
Fantastic I got mine about a month ago after having the fitbit flex which was't great, the UP is excellent in that its very easy to use, easy to set up and easy to understand the app. The product feels superb and is a real stylish band unlike the flex which is a piece of cheap plastic with an electronic device shoved in. The battery lasts for 10 days on this which is why I suppose they don't have bluetooth but to be honest to synch this takes just 5 to 10 seconds and its easy so anyone can use it. One of the best things about it is the insights you get from Jawbone which are very realistic and accurate, they help you understand yourself more and this encourages change (if needed), you scan foods and can enter drinks etc, the Up also connects with My Fitness pal which is great for my bike rides etc and also has other apps you can connect to. I have had both the Flex and UP and this one is a clear winner in so many ways, you won't be disappointed. 28 July 2013
Excellent This is a brilliant product, if you can put in some effort it will drive you through a life style change. It cant do everything for you but it certainly lets you see whats really going on with your life. The app is very good and the food logging works well. Not all food works on the barcode scan but it dosn't take to long to manually enter items. The band is reasonably accurate, checked it on a known distance walked of 1.01 miles and it registered 1.1 miles. Check it over 2600 steps and it registered about 2580 of them. No pedometer based device is perfect but this one is close. There is also a calibration feature to improve distance traveled. The alarm feature is a good idea but I can sleep through it. I sleep through a lot of alarms, would probably work well for normal people. Wireless would be nice but the 10 day battery life is better. Most people think they know how active they are and what they eat, this shows you the truth which was a bit of a shock. I am now loosing weight and getting fitter every week. 28 May 2013
Very Inaccurate and NOT wireless! Firstly Mr John Lewis - do you sanity check the product descriptions for what you're selling? apart from this being on your wrist (like a watch) it does not do any of its claimed great things wirelessly! You have to plug it into your phone via the headphone socket! How archaic is that! So you have no idea how well you're doing in the day until you unplug the clip (which you'll eventually lose) and then plug it in and wait for data to transfer...! I wouldn't mind but its so inaccurate, I have a Fitbit One too that i bought from John Lewis but wanted a wristband tracker. I shall be sticking with my Fitbit and ordering the Flex when it launches as it works WIRELESSLY and syncs via Bluetooth low energy. Yes WIRELESSLY! Avoid this its a step backwards in technology and wholly inaccurate...! 17 May 2013
