It's light and easy to use, but already got a problem internal spool holder has become detached, and loose inside and it will not stitch, and that's only after using it twice. So I need advice on what to do next as obviously this needs sorting.

I am very disappointed with this machine. I have only used it about 6 times for light cottons on my toddler grandchildren's clothes. It really is not up to the job. It has now jammed and the needle will not go up or down. It's now just out of guarantee. and reading these reviews, it is not worth my complaining to JL It is not up to the John Lewis usual standard. Please do not buy this product. It is not worth the money. Very disappointed indeed!

Unit is right size and shelf configuration about right, but slightly unsure which way the lower of the 3 shelf units should be placed - a clue would be of help.
Page 8 of User Guide refers to "shrives". Dictionary describes word as "hear confession of, assign penance to, and absolve...". "Shelves"?

I bought this machine about 4 years ago to make a few projects like cushion covers, drawstring bags, bunting and I have just made my first top on it. It is not for use with thick fabrics but cottons it does really well with. This is stated in the manual. I have just changed the needle. Have found that it makes a loud noise if the fabric too thick or if the machine needs a clean.
As I now need to add an invisible zipper to my top.
I am just wondering if I can attach a zipper foot to it?

We have 2 of these machines which are perfect for straight stitch on plain cotton fabrics. The Zig-zag is only suitable for non stretch fabrics in our opinion. So for small projects like dolls clothes, cushions, bunting and appliqué this is a good starter product.
For an introductory machine they are a very affordable option. A child interested in sewing clothes however should probably go for the next level John Lewis Machine which has a light and can cope with a variety of materials.

We bought this for my 10 year old daughter to learn on. It is very simple to use and, having only one speed, it feels quite safe. That said, it does some fancy stitches as well as the basics. She has loved experimenting on it. A very good purchase.
