Rated 5 out of 5 by MaryVC Excellent product tor everyday use
This excellent machine is very lightweight and (once you've taken in the instructions!) extremely easy to use! Perfect for simple tasks such as taking in seams, machine-stitching trouser hems and repairs. I found it much easier to thread the needle without using the threader provided.

I purchased a mini sewing machine for my grandaughter for last xmas. . We booked her for sewing lessons andused their machine . When she did use her machine she was having a lot of probs with the bobbin . We returnrd the machine and to be fair when the assistant used it nothing went wrong . She tried again at classes and gave up on it as someimes it was okay and sometimes not . In all she has used it about 8 times . She wanted to use it at home today and had problems with it again. At the moment she is using it and it is going okay but for how long . We are going to have to buy a more expensive machine at some point - but I dont feel we had good use out of the mini machine

bought two of these sewing machines for my twin grand daughters 8th birthday. They absolutely loved them, then disaster, within 2 hours one of the machines, a pink one, would not pick up the spool. Fantastic service at John Lewis's, they changed it straight away for another pink one. The new machine was up and running , but again within 1hr the same problem arose. The machine this time was exchanged for a red one, so far it has been OK. If we encounter anymore problems we will ask for a refund.

I bought this for my granddaughter's 8th birthday, and it is almost perfect - sews well, very easy to handle. She is delighted with it and learned to use it very quickly
I didn't check to see if if had a light, as it never occurred to me that it might not - but it doesn't, which means you can only use it in a good light (This is why I'm only giving it a 4)
The instructions for threading the needle are rather odd, involving sticking a needle threader in from the back of the needle (a challenge on a small machine) - it's perfectly easy to thread directly if the needle is up and the pressure foot down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Janice06 A great birthday present
I bought the Mini sewing machine for my granddaughter's 8th birthday and she is thrilled with it. I think it will give her many years of enjoyment as well as being productive. She is about to make some bunting which I think I am going to be presented with soon! A really good buy at a reasonable price.Up to John Lewis's usual high standards! Well done!

Love this little machine. I was not sure what to expect after reading some of the reviews on here, but I am so pleased with my little machine. I keep it in the conservatory to do little hobby sewing projects and I keep my full sized machine upstairs. I purchased this mini one to take on holidays with me.
It's great having the decorative and more functional stitches too. I don't expect it to do what my full sized machine does, but this is just so light and convenient and fun to use.

i love going round John Lewis and came across this mini Sewing Machine and fell in love with it. I make cards and also do Scrapbooking but I was struggling with holding a needle to sew around my cards. It does ten different style of stitching and is just what I needed to finish my cards and scrapbook pages.
