Getting the most from your induction pans
All of our John Lewis induction pans are tested to the British and European standards for safety and performance. To ensure the functionality of induction pans, it is important to make sure the magnetic circuit with the hob isn’t broken by:

  • Making sure the size of the pan base is no smaller than the hob ‘ring’
  • Using pans with a flat base
  • Not lifting the pan off the hob top continuously
  • Giving coated and aluminium pans with steel bases more time to heat, as the aluminium sides do not heat directly from the hob

Q & As

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Really dangerous product! I agree with the last review. The bottom is incredibly slippery. Even if slightly knocked it would come off the stove, incredibly dangerous. It only needs to be non stick on the inside. Will return this product. 30 November 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Frankly dangerous. The one problem with putting non-slip Teflon on the outside and bottom of a pan as well as on the inside where it belongs is that said pan slips all over the cast iron pan stands on the hob whilst stirring. It is only a matter of time until this pan slips off the hob and deposits its contents all over the floor or worse still, me. Dangerous and should be withdrawn. Shall not be using anymore. Further more the pan base is convexly domed so oil poured in to the pan runs away from the middle and pools at the perimeter making this product completely useless. 06 October 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Replacement purchase - still poor manufacture I bought a 30cm saute pan from Johh Lewis about 10 yrs ago and it's been fantastic but the non-stick was wearing. I gave it to my son and treated myself to a new one, but had to return it as the bottom is domed and oil slides to the sides, meaning whatever's being cooked burns. No problem in store replacing it but the new pan is equally poorly manufactured. Not the quality I expect from John Lewis and this one will sadly be going back. 16 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great multi use pan. Brilliant , multi use utensil, especially useful for myself, as I have a fairly small kitchen, so storage space for pots and pans is at a premium. 28 July 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Concave (convex?) bottom Generally pleased with the pan but the bottom of it curves upwards towards the middle rather than being flat as other sautee pans we've had are. So when you pour oil in it gathers round the edge rather than distributing evenly 28 July 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not flat i don't know if I've got a faulty pan but I find it really annoying as there is a "gutter" going round the edge of the pan so when I put oil in it goes to the sides leaving the middle of the pan oil free which makes cooking challenging. I'm really disappointed with it. 19 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just what was required No fault can be found with this outstanding addition to my kitchen equipment 12 May 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Well made product but not suitable for gas hob While we agree with the other reviews that this is a good size, and a well made pan, its big drawback for us is that the bottom is 'dished', i.e. not completely flat. This creates 2 problems as, firstly, any liquid or oil just runs to the outer ring of the pan leaving the main cooking area dry; and secondly, and more of a problem, as the bottom is not flat the pan just slides around on the metal pan stands of our gas hob, which is actually quite dangerous. It would be fine on a flat cooking surface, such as an ordinary electric, halogen, or induction hob, but it is certainly not suitable for our gas hob. This was not made clear in the description so we feel a bit misled about it and as we have obvioulsy used it we are now stuck with it. It is a shame because it is a really well made pan and looks a quality product. We just don't understand why the base is not completely flat unless this is a feature of a saute pan? 11 May 2015
