John Lewis 2-Tier Dish and Cutlery Drainer, Stainless Steel
Looks great, rusts easily
I bought this dish drainer a few months ago and whilst it looks great in my kitchen and saves space, the rust is terrible and needs to be scrubbed off regularly. The rust has now stated to stain my crockery and so this product is no longer fit for purpose. Disappointing for a John Lewis product.

A compact and wonderful addition to our kitchen sink!
A fabulously designed 2-tier dish and cutlery drainer which keeps everything in one place, drains really well, and accommodates many more items than one might think! A great buy, very happy with it!

We sent it back...
I didn't find the plate section adequately deep to confidently hold a dinner plate - it was even worse with a pudding bowl. Also there is no guard at either end that could catch a plate or bowl if it was not properly secured and decided to tumble forward. The instructions were horrible, needlesly over complicating a seemingly simple job. I was left looking at long sections of exposed thread wondering if I had put it together properly. It looks nice though, and the cutlery drainer was great, but we still returned it for a refund.

Great except that it rusts :(
Two criticisms (also voiced by others): 1) There is no lip out of which to drain the water that builds up in the tray; 2) it is rusting. I bought mine last November and it started to rust within a month or two. Erm, rust is a pretty basic shortcoming in a drainer which is supposed to be stainless steel (looks more like chrome plate to me). Really disappointed because it (otherwise) looks good and has a great capacity for my rather small draining board.

Looks aren't everything
I've been looking for a dish and cup drainer for few weeks so bought this as it looked so nice, but looks aren't everything! it took me nearly and hour to fit together (and I'm handy with my hands) as, if you want stability, you have to screw bits fairly tight, but then you have lengths of rod with too much screw threads showing where the dome caps don't go true-not good, plus found there just wasn't enough space to fit everything. The the tray is a lovely shiny chrome which may look nice but proves to be rather unserviceable as obviously the draining water marks it. As it's metal I had to put a cloth under it to save my brand new drainer & sink from scratching.
To cost that much it should be either already assembled or much easier and sturdier for self assembly. Not too good I'm afraid. I've given it 3* but nearly gave two.

Not the quality that I was expecting
The assembly instructions complicate what should be a simple process . Once assembled the product actually looks quite good and works well, although the threaded bars on each corner are too long and the end domed nut does fit flush with the securing nut. My main concern however is that after 1 week all of the soldering joints on the bottom rack are showing signs of rust. Overall the product doesn't have the quality feel that I expect from a JL product and it will be heading back to them for a refund.

The finished article works well and is very sturdy. It's a bit fiddly trying to assemble but didn't take too long.
