Full HD & 3D

Integrated sound bar
TV speakers can sometimes sound a little flat. The JL9000 solves this with a powerful built-in 50W 2.2 channel sound bar. Soundtracks are richer in everything from films to games and because it’s integrated into the stand, it won’t add bulk to your existing media setup.

You’ll always be entertained with the JL9000’s large suite of smart apps. Stay in touch with Facebook, share your thoughts on Twitter or watch the latest films on Netflix. You don’t have to be tied to TV schedules anymore either thanks to catch up TV services like BBC iPlayer.

This fast, intuitive interface makes getting around your apps and devices simple. It works by pinning your favourite apps, devices and programmes to one sliding menu. WebOS also adds live and on demand TV to a combined guide with a smart recommendation service so you can keep track of everything that’s on.

The built-in camera gives you the freedom to chat to friends and family around the world from the comfort of your armchair. Just download the Skype app and use your regular login details to get started.

Dual Core speed
All of these features would be nothing without a powerful processor. The JL9000’s fast dual core processor handles changes between apps and channels along with the demands of image processing in giving you the best picture possible.

Q & As

John Lewis 49JL9000 LED HD 1080p 3D Smart TV, 49" with Freeview HD & 2x 3D Glasses 3.2 5 9 9
Grear choice Very pleased so far, great picture, easy to navigate. Love the screen share function. Far superior to my Sony 42" 7 Series (bought last month), which takes 10 seconds to start, Miracast does not work and has painful filesharing from my laptop. Only critisisms would be - sound bar not that powerful and prgramme guide a bit slow. 15 December 2014
an expensive let down The following comments will apply in my opinion to 2014 LG smart TVs. Some issues: It was impossible to access the LG store in order to download skype. LG’s response being - a known problem with chip set - be patient. a. response time after pressing a button is painfully slow; eg after pressing the input select the screen will blank out and 3 spinning globes appear - after 10-15 seconds the input list appears on the left of the screen. You then use the cursor to pick your peripheral choice i.e. dvd player, … b. the EPG is awful to behold: wait & wait for a response. Once the page is loaded you will find that it is not possible to scroll one line at a time once the top/bottom of the displayed channel list is reached - you have to press another button - cannot group a set of channels on the same guide screen to compare say bbc1 to CH5. c. I found that if a peripheral is switched on, you get the pop-up message saying “do you wish to open the input list”. You then go through the same palaver as above. Similarly if the peripheral is switched off, you then get the message “no signal” and the spinning globes appear. d. After living with this frustration for a few weeks, I decided to try the optical audio to connect the TV sound to our existing analogue speakers. I found that every 15 seconds or so there was a sound dropout. use ‘settings’ to direct sound means can’t have tv speakers + external in use. Then say the next day you come to use the TV when you may not have the external speakers powered up, you have to use the ‘settings’ menu (several buttons) to re-select TV speakers. This was the final straw for me. Given these issues, I was glad to have purchased the JL (aka LG) from JL because they agreed swap of my choosing - just delivered 28/11. Check out the Panasonic :) 29 November 2014
Remote control I purchased this TV on advise of sales person! Looked great in store and very well priced, Now my problem and gripe is controlling the TV Let me explain both controllers have a mind of there own they don't react with the commands nor do they control the apps selection! For some reason when I scroll to app it then decides to go to NOW Tv why I have know idea I've reset and replaced batteries and to no a veil same problem, I would recommend reading reviews prior to this purchase because I believe that the remotes are far than perfect Sound bar Very tinnie so purchased Bose all in one Great sound, 28 October 2014
volume controls and 2 remotes On installation the explanations were too hurried - this is a complicated TV The volume controls on my Sky remote and my Panasonic HD recorder do not work - there appears to be no TV codes to make them work I cannot understand why there are two remotes, this complicates rather than simplifies operation. You cannot get rid of one because some functions are only on one and vice versa. This means I now have 4 remotes to operate my equipment. A Smart TV should be able to operate all your attached equipment with a single remote 29 August 2014
Awkward stand design The picture quality of this TV is very good... my issue is with the sound bar/stand. Firstly, the sound quality is underwhelming and you may be better off with the LG TV equivalent and a seperate sound bar. The real problem is that the TV stands (which also hold the sound bar) are at the extreme ends of the unit so that if you wish to mount the TV on a corner unit you need an outsize TV table. This would not be problem on a straight table (but it would still have to be at least as long as the TV) or for wall mount. So not for those who want their TV positioned in a corner. 15 August 2014
49 or 55 After much humming and haring I went with the 49 inch screen. Good choice. The TV had to be mounted either on the wall or on its feet/soundbar. set up and o tuning is easy. No more to be said. 11 August 2014
excellent qua;ity Excellent picture quality, really easy to set up, even I could do it. Not used the 3D 29 July 2014
Great features Fantastic product - well done John Lewis. I love the integrated sound bar within the stand, so sleek and no need for more wires and boxes. Sound and picture quality great too and really easy to navigate . Would definitely recommend 24 June 2014
