John Lewis Abacus Filing Desks
Have just got a filing desk and wide 3 draw filing chest. having read some of the reviews I was doubtful and nearly did not order but now having put them together I am very pleased I went ahead.
They are excellently made, went togerther very quickly
without any bother and now look expensive bits of furniture.
what those other reviews were talking about I do not know, I am less than expert at putting things together so what the other reviwers capabilities are I wonder.
All it took was little patience and sorting out the bits and an easy assemble.

A good looking desk
We received this desk on time and securely packaged, though the delivery time window is far too long. We got up at 6:30am for a possible arrival and it came at 1:45. The desk itself goes together well, though you must allow at least double the suggested time. Mine took nearly two hours to assemble. We are very pleased with it. The drawers run well and the desk area is generous. We chose to assemble it with the drawers on the left, and clear instructions were provided for this. I would recommend the desk and, if we needed it, I would consider buying matching furniture from the same range.

Good looking and good quality
I purchased three items from this range, and am truly delighted with them. They look good of course. What is not so obvious from the website is the solid quality of the furniture, the smooth running of the drawers and the lack of that “flatpack nightmare”of any missing pieces!
I agree with many previous reviewers that the estimated construction time is laughable (I’m not sure why they feel it necessary offer this information anyway). Fortunately, having been forewarned by previous customers, this did not cause any frustration, especially as the end result was so good. We were also grateful for the warning from other people about lining up the camlocks correctly and would agree with those people who have suggested labelling the wooden parts themselves would make life easier than trying to recognise them from a drawing.
As for the desk itself: it is a good working size without being too large, making my study and our guest accommodation one and the same room without seeming over-furnished. I would repeat one hint from previous purchasers. If you have bought the keyboard tray as well, be sure to fix it to the desk top before completing and turning the desk upright.

Great range of excellent quality. We bought the desk, wide filing cabinet, wide cupboard and printer trolley to kit out our home office and it all looks great. It wasn't too difficult to assemble and the spare pack of screws etc that comes with each piece of furniture is a definite bonus. It's solid when put together and the drawers open and close well. Overall I would recommend this furniture.

Solid home office desk
We bought two desks. The first one took us 21/2 hours to assemble. The instructions were clear enough but it took quite a while to identify the different parts and the way the bolts operate. Once you understand the way the desks fit together the process is straightforward and the second desk was built in an hour. We are pleased with the desks, they are certainly solid and the drawers run smoothly.

After lots of shopping around this seamed the ideal one for me. It's taken 3 hours to build but I was on my own and I've taken my time. I'm not a DIYer by any means and would say if I can do it anyone can, looks fantastic now it's put together you would think I'd paid a hefty price for it very solid. Would highly recommend it!
