John Lewis Blackout Curtain Linings, Ivory
Bad quality control
The first pair I bought were faulty, ie had a black line across one curtain. Exchanged them for another pair but the gathering thread had been stitched through on the heading tape so unable to gather properly. Have managed to make do with the second pair as I had already shortened them and in process of hanging them. A useful product but better quality control required. Very annoying.

Very effective at blocking out unwanted light and sunshine. Very sturdy presenting a bit of a struggle to attach to lined curtains but we'll worth the effort!

does the job
does block out the light but would like to hang with the ivory lining facing the window and not the cream as this looks really horrible from outside. It would help to have the tape on both sides so people can make a choice or if not with the cotton side to window and the cream facing the curtain.

I bought these after years of trying to sleep with a street light outside and wish I'd done so earlier. Found them easy to attach though I'm hopeless at that sort of thing and like the way they add weight to the curtains. Only problem is that unless I set the alarm, I don't wake up until 9.

Fabric is a bit stiffer and bulkier than hoped
A little disappointed with these. I'd seen some blackout linings in the branch that were softer, thinner fabric. I thought these would be the same but they're quite stiff and a bit bulky when fitted to my curtains. I was also slightly worried about the combined weight and whether my curtain pole could take it. I'm going to buy a second curtain rail to hang them from, behind the main curtains - not the simple solution I was hoping for.

Good but faulty
Just attached one lining and hung the curtain. Fine. I then tried to pull the cord on the second lining but found someone had stitched through the cord so I couldn't pull it through. Bad, sloppy, sewing.

After struggling for a long while with the street light outside my bedroom window, I finally decided to do something about it. These are great!!
They are a little stiff and thicker than normal but I understand why.
They hang with your curtain linings to block out the light... Brilliant.

Very stiff fabric - maybe it would help to wash them out prior to hanging.
These are well made and just about do the job. The stiffness of the fabric does mean that they don't hang neatly and tuck away behind the main curtains, however. It also means that I have to arrange them very carefully each night to get them to do the blackout job effectively - otherwise there may be a big (light) gap in the middle or at an edge.
