These blackout blinds eliminate light and give 100% privacy, allowing you to get a sound night’s sleep or simply to relax completely at leisure. What’s more, they are speedy to put in place, durable and moisture resistant, making them perfect for any room including bathrooms and kitchens.

The fabric has been specially engineered to have a pleasingly soft feel to the touch. Operated with a slick beaded metal chain, each blind includes a cleat that can be drilled into the wall to keep the chain out of reach of small children or pets. The blind can be washed with a damp cloth to keep it in prime condition.

All blinds can be fitted either inside or outside the window recess, to a wall or ceiling. A groove tube allows for ease of reverse rolling, meaning your blind sits flush to the window and therefore minimises light entering the room from the top or sides.

Instructions and fittings are included. The blinds can be used as is or cut to size with a hacksaw and fabric scissors for a tailored fit. There’s no need to fiddle with the blind fabric if you’re cutting it to size, as it simply slides out of the tube. Blackout blinds are ideal for children’s rooms, but you must fit the safety device provided with the blind to the wall in order to tie up the pull cord safely, out of the way of children and pets. For safety we recommend that you move beds, cots and furniture away from any window fitted with a blind that has a side control mechanism, even with a safety device in place.

Useless blind I have several of these blinds around the house and never had any problems, then bought one for my daughters window and well we are on the third blind and every one has broken. The side winder is the problem, the chain slips and the mechanism jams. Completely useless! John Lewis sort it out, I am an advocate of your products normally but not this time! 05 May 2013

POOR PLASTIC FITTING/CHAIN The fabric is is great.But the plastic fitting that holds the chain to pull the blind up & down is unworthy of John Lewis. Mine jammed and the chain broke while I was fitting it (I have fitted plenty of these before): no way to unjam it. Result - useless blind! 01 May 2013

smart and affordable Great product, the blackout material is really affective and its very easy to cut the blinds to the window size. Much cheaper than custom made blinds and they look very smart. 04 February 2013

Useful Product, but beware I found these quite fiddly to fit into a window reveal. Best advice is to get the brackets up, then measure between them before deciding how much to cut the blinds down. If you don't cut enough then they will jam on the fittings. Also be careful about orienting the cable pull side of the blind on the fitting: get it wrong and it'll jam. Not impressed with the metal chain pull. Only a little extra force and we lost a good six inches, and they're already a bit short. Also you have to be careful not to put too much tension on the joint. We could do with a replacement chain JL! 14 January 2013
