John Lewis Boston Bedsteads, Kingsize
A nice looking, solid bed but it has issues with the middle leg if it's on a wooden floor. Our bed broke in the middle after 20 months and John Lewis replaced (great customer service.) The new bed is still on a wooden floor but we have put circles of non slip matting (that goes under rugs) under each foot and the whole thing is solid. Really should be supplied with non slip feet or recommendation of use on carpeted floors. The instructions do say not to adjust the support legs so that they touch the floor but this is difficult on a wooden floor.

Don't buy this bed even it were in stock
I enjoyed this splendid-looking bed for some 10 months until one night the middle strut went, precipitated by the central leg giving out. That was it! For the next hour or so the struts pinged out landing on the floor, which was not fun in the early hours! This bed is clearly not designed to last and as it is now out of stock I would guess John Lewis are not going to reorder. The problem is JL do not do another bed which is as attractive in style for an old cottage bedroom. The furniture buyer had better get out looking but in the meantime do not consider ordering this bed as it will more than likely collapse on you.

Very disappointed in this bed
I don't normally write reviews on products, however my experience with this bed has driven me to comment this time. I am very disappointed in this bed. As other reviewers have pointed out, the middle strut on the bed is not strong enough. We only had the bed a week before the middle strut bent and collapsed in the middle of the night. This is obviously a common problem and I am surprised John Lewis continue to sell this bed which has an obvious fault. I will think twice before buying another piece of furniture from John Lewis.

We bought an almost identical (the base and struts are identical) bed on special purchase last year. After months of putting up with crawling under the bed to straighten the support struts, the middle bar final snapped in two in the middle of last night.
As I would expect from JL customer service, no problems with arranging collection and a refund is promised, but we are disappointed as we really liked the look of the bed. After reading the reviews on here, we will not be purchasing this one as a replacement, as we had been considering.

4 am and the middle bar collapsed
Oh how we wished we'd read the reviews before we bought the bed. 4 am last night and the whole bottom of the bed fell out, the middle bar had warped, collapsed and taken some of the slats with it. 4 am is not a good time to have to work out how to get a good nights sleep. I'm hoping the customer services are as good as people say. I really dont think i can trust this bed again, so will be looking for a new one. We've only had it 4 months and I loved the look of it.

Not for us....
We paid for the bed to be assembled and the centre support was still bent (before anyone had even been in the bed!). Further, it had lots of damage. So did the replacement second and third bed, so we have now given up on this product as a bad job - not the quality we would expect from John Lewis. That said, customer support has been excellent.

Centre supports collapsed within days, mattress sagged in the middle, seems like some kind of design flaw and is only held together by Allen key screws and bent the supporting legs out of shape very easily. First delivery had paint flaked off the bedstead so needed replacement parts. Very poor quality product, not befitting of John Lewis whose customer support was excellent despite the problems.
