John Lewis Brigitta Ceiling Light
Doesn't do what it says it should
Very disappointed. As it was difficult for an amateur to fit - and a "Two-man job" - we had to wait for an electrician to come after Christmas.
He installed it yesterday and discovered it did not drop to the 124 cms as stated and hung pointlessly too high over the dining table. The electrician then replaced with a longer silicon cable and now the pulley system doesn't work as the weight is wrong.
Complete and utter waste of money - and now having to keep calling the Oxford st store trying to speak to someone without success although as cable has been changed am unsure of my returning rights.....

Well designed modern light .Fitted well into the decor.Well made sturdy construction.Needs max size bulb bulb to provide light in the kitchen location but ability to lower the light makes cleaning easy.Needs two people to fit the light of reasonable competance,y.Overall very pleased.

My light falls but doesn't rise...
I was initially thrilled with this light as I'd been searching for something similar for a long time. I had an electrician install it for me, and all went well for 3 months. However, I've noticed recently that the light will not stay in the risen position, it falls fairly rapidly down to the lowest point. This is very annoying as I wanted the versatility of the rise and fall mechanism for sewing, drawing, etc at the kitchen table. Has anybody else had this problem? Is there anything I can do or adjust to correct it? I cannot easily take this back as obviously, it is fixed into the ceiling. I hope this is easily fixed....any help appreciated.

Brigitta Ceiling Light
Nice stylish yet simple light in a neutral colour to match almost anything. Unfortunately however the pulley system doesn't work and when you try to push the light up the cord just bends and doesn't move through the pulley. This is disappointing as this was twice the price of a similar light without the pulley system! Also the fitting was not easy and the eletrician had to make a block to enable him to fit to ceiling. If the electrician hadn't made the special fitment and fitted it I would have returned for a refund.

Brigitta ceiling light
We brought more than one of these for the kitchen.the colour and shape are lovely and simple.
The fitting was not as easy as expected:our electrician had to replace the metal supplied to fix to the ceiling as it was so flimsy..he suggested my feedback to JL was these fixings were not fit for purpose ! I was surprised given that normally standards are higher..in the long run the lights look nice but due to the fixings being so bad there was a delay (and meantime) in getting them put up.. Which is why I've given them a lower rating.

We were delighted by the simple, sleek shape of the light. It went up relatively easily. It was exactly what we wanted for our room, and looks good over a dining table. However, occasionally we have had to refasten the nuts on the ceiling fitting which was a little dissappointing!

Does what it says on tin!
Love the light and style fits well into our renovated country kitchen. Just disappointed the paint finish is matt as we hoped it would match other lights. Light over table just right with rise and fall adjustment - not your fault guest has 'head butted' it!!

A word on placement
This is a fantastic rise and fall pendant lamp. It looks great above our farmhouse table, but I can imagine it would suit a contemporary kitchen or diner just as well.
Nice neutral colour, pulley works great and the cord and ceiling plate look very stylish. You'll be out looking for French retro advertisement plaques for you walls once it's up.
Be careful that in the middle of your table might not necessarily be where there's a joist above. I can't see plasterboard or laths holding this up. So screw it in to the nearest joist.
