John Lewis Classic II Lidded Casserole, 24cm, 5L

Product information

This classic lidded casserole is constructed of premium grade 18/10 stainless steel, providing better protection against rust or acid corrosion and incredible durability.

The pan features a 360° stepped non-drip pouring rim which helps prevent liquids boiling over.

Internal water level indicators for easy capacity measurement.

The 6mm thick aluminium sandwich bases provide excellent heat distribution, retention and no hot spots. Suitable for all hob types including induction.

Getting the most from your induction pans
All of our John Lewis induction pans are tested to the British and European standards for safety and performance. To ensure the functionality of induction pans, it is important to make sure the magnetic circuit with the hob isn’t broken by:

  • Making sure the size of the pan base is no smaller than the hob ‘ring’
  • Using pans with a flat base
  • Not lifting the pan off the hob top continuously
  • Giving coated and aluminium pans with steel bases more time to heat, as the aluminium sides do not heat directly from the hob

Q & As

John Lewis Classic II Lidded Casserole, 24cm, 5L 5 5 5 5
Future family heirlooms? I bought this to add to a set of 4 'Classic' saucepans and it looks like the build quality is still the same. I think the saucepans are about 18 years old now and are showing no significant signs of wear. I'm confident that they will last at least another 18 years and most likely will outlast me! On that basis this is not an expensive item. In addition they look fabulous and very professional as well as being good to cook with. 09 April 2014
Classic II Lidded Casserole purchase I could not resist the Classic II lidded casserole pot. It looks fabulously professional, I love being able to use it on my hob then place into the oven (unlike my previous casserole dishes) and it cleans up very easily. Perhaps slightly more expensive than I would normally want to pay in the current climate but I have to say it really was money well spent - as it will last forever! 01 December 2012
Great size! A great product good even heat, easy to clean and a great size for cooking for a big group or a big tea! oo and a good price... 20 July 2012
A Christmas present worth its weight in gold! Delivered on time to meet the Christmas rush in the Kitchen in our frantic household. 29 December 2011
Excellent stockpot, casserole and general-purpose big pan I had one of these for 10 years until a domestic reshuffle ended with the quondam Mrs CaptainGinger taking custody of the cookware (an irony, given her maladroitness in the kitchen, but that's another story for another time...). Anyway, I replaced it with the Classic II version. What to say? It's a big pot with a big lid. It works perfectly for making stock, boiling puddings, cooking food for large numbers of people and, er, that's probably it. The new version has volume markings on the inside, which is a useful addition, and a satin-finish band on the outside, which is pointless. Otherwise it's a simple, robust and functional large pot which should be an essential item in any kitchen. Materials, workmanship and price are all unbeatable. Get one. 23 November 2011
