I am fed up with buying the cheaper rails that suddenly collapse decanting my clothes on the floor. I was initially going to purchase a small commercial rail until I found out how expensive they were. Then I had a light bulb moment and looked on the John Lewis site. This rail is totally perfect, a sized down and sleek looking version of those used in clothes shops. I collected this from my local Waitrose (Newport. Salop) so pleased I did as the package was very, very big. The lovely staff unpacked it for me and took it to my car to ensure that it would fit. Very easy to put together I hardly needed to do anything other than supervise the husband (age 72) He informed me that if I understood physics I would have known why the uprights are not totally straight and need a little gentle persuasion to fit. Anyway main thing is that it looks great, is very sturdy and holds lots of very heavy and long winter garments. Rolls around at the push of one hand. Only very small niggle is that I wish the uprights were adjustable for height. Great quality buy.

John Lewis Clothes Rail
I am extremely pleased with this purchase. The clothes rail was easy to assemble, looks fine, is plenty tall enough to hang longer garments, and wide enough to hold many items. It's best feature is it's sturdiness - you know it won't eventually collapse, as cheaper inferior alternatives can do. Altogether a brilliant buy!

We bought two of these for use whilst our bedroom is being decorated. They can subsequently be used for coats at parties etc. Excellent clear instructions - assembled in under 5 minutes each. Light but sturdy. Wheels make them extremely easy to manoeuvre between rooms. We are really thrilled with them. 5*s!

Difficult to assemble
I actually sent the first product back as I couldn't assemble it.... the 2 upright poles don't sit at 90 degrees and so the top pole is about 2ft too short and so wont connect the 2 uprights. Having checked all the reviews everyone else said how easy it was to assemble so I assumed I had a faulty product. I just received the replacement and had exactly the same problem. I decided to use brute force...you have to attach the 2 upright rails and then pull them together (which bends the metal for the base pole) and that way you can make the top pole fit. The instructions don't tell you this but it worked for me.

Sturdy but difficult to assemble
Once assembled the rail was sturdy, however it was extremely difficult to put together, and is missing two screws. The components do not fit well together, making assembly a challenge. The instructions were also incorrect.
