Product information

A top quality traditional coil spring interior surrounded with natural coir fibre encapsulated in natural latex rubber. Luxury wool pads on both sleeping surfaces give support and comfort at all times.

The outer cover has one rayon quilted side and a full zip, so it can be easily removed and handwashed.

Made specially for John Lewis. All our mattresses comply with BS 1877: Part 10: 1997 and BS 7177: 1996.

Surprising disappointed Delivery was excellent but after just two nights there was a very defined indentation in the mattress. I have turned it around and now turned the mattress over. I expect to turn the mattress but didn't expect to be doing it so frequently. Not sure this is right. My son is 12 weeks and not that heavy. 01 April 2013

Good the second time around! When I opened the first mattress I received it was very damp to the touch, and smelt very strongly of damp and mould as another user has also commented (certainly not the "natural fibre" smell that was suggested by the John Lewis reply!) The piece of paper that was taped to it was wet and had mildew on it. I was shocked and as this is a mattress for a baby, very concerned! John Lewis customer service were very good and agreed there was no way we should put our baby to sleep on a mattress that arrived damp. They arranged a return and sent a new mattress to our local store for collection, the new mattress is fine and has a lovely fresh natural smell (not mould or chemicals) and we noticed had a big silica gel bag in the packaging to absorb moisture which the first one definitely did not have! We are very pleased with the new mattress that we have and with John Lewis' excellent customer service, but be aware of damp or mouldy smelling mattresses as these pose a massive health risk to babies! 07 October 2012

Top quality We opened packaging to let air as most baby products seem to have clinical smell. . . This didn't. It was fine. Mattress is very deep and comfortable. Very happy 27 July 2012

Fantastic mattress As with most John Lewis orders, this arrived promptly with standard delivery. It is extremely comfortable and our little one has had no problems sleeping on this mattress. Also excellent value for money. Would certainly recommend. 04 July 2012

Bad odour I've just received my second mattress after returning the first due to it having a bad odour & the second one has it also. I'm pretty sure mattresses aren't suppose to smell like that - of damp & mould. If I was to sleep on it that smell would make me nauseous so there's no way I'm letting my baby sleep on it. 17 April 2012

Good heavy mattress Good quality mattress. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that it is unclear whether one side is waterproof and should therefore be used while the baby is small. The instructions which come with the mattress say to turn it periodically yet the two sides are different. 11 April 2012

rest-easy on this cool mattress I'm not prone to writing reviews but when I needed a new mattress for my 3 month old, I visited John Lewis and had a play. While it was easy to see the appeal of the expensive mattresses from an adult point of view, our estimate that the 'bounce' and filling of this one was perfect for a normal weight baby. This has proved correct as our daughter sleeps... like a baby! 29 February 2012
