John Lewis Contoured Laundry Basket
I so liked the shape of this laundry basket I now have three and at a price that won't break the bank

Not as good as the old ones!
I bought 3 washing baskets similar to these, oh, maybe a year ago. One got broken last week (teenage party!) and I went to buy a replacement today. However they've changed the design! The old ones had really nice handles that went all around, however the latest ones are an upside-down 'U' and would really hurt my hands if carrying a lot of washing. So I didn't buy. Please JL will you bring back the old design??

Everything I could possibly want out of a laundry basket. The plastic is strong but flexible, and doesn't scratch easily (which has been a problem for me in the past). The design allows for easy carriage, with multiple places to hook your hands into. Some people have said the handles are not for them, but i disagree - for me, they are perfectly contoured, as the name suggests!

Handles snapped off
Would not purchase again as the handles snapped off mine too.

Can't tell from the picture if this is exactly the same as the 2 previous baskets we've had from JL within last 12 months or so but seems to be. They were good in all respects except that the handles snapped off. The latest has also cracked down one end. And no, we're not particularly rough with our laundry baskets! So why am I just about to order this one? I live in hope .... Having read the other review of this product, which complains of handles which cut into the hand, I think there must have been a bit of a design modification since the last one we got. The handles didn't cut in - they just cracked off.

Promising, but fatally flawed by STUPID handles
Good shape, perfect size. Brilliant white plastic and even has a nice idea for carrying on your hip.
However, this is fatally flawed by the handles. They are surely upside down! I want my fingers to curve around the bottom of a U, not get nearly cut off by the sharp points of the an upside down U. I genuinely could not bear to carry a washing load up the stairs without trying to move my hands to relieve the pressure on my fingers. And trust me, the plastic is sharp! I thought about whether I could trim off or smooth the plastic, or maybe I should just wrap Gaffer tape around the handles (sadly my wife won’t have that.) So instead I am going to take it back and look elsewhere for a laundry basket with handles that don’t hurt.
I am really quite annoyed by this pathetic design.
