John Lewis Digital Optical TOSLINK Cable, 1.5m

Product information

This digital optical TOSLINK cable will connect to TOSLINK devices to transmit digital audio signals between them. This can be used to output the sound from a TV, Blu-Ray player or DVD player to a digital surround sound system or sound bar, for example, or to connect a compatible CD player or docking system to external speakers with a TOSLINK connection. A polished lens will provide optimal signal transfer while a high quality optical fibre core and black cabling will give excellent performance and reduce the chance of losing sound clarity between the source and the speaker.

Q & As

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Cable Bought this cable when I got a new TV, on to my second as first one snapped while feather dusting back of TV! 11 November 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by It does the job so why pay more I needed an optical cable for between the Panasonic TV and Marantz music server so that we could get the TV sound on the better speakers. After seeing the big range in price between the different makes, I did a bit of research on the internet and found people saying they are perfectly happy with cheap cables. They could not find a difference in performance. The difficulty was in locating the cable in the Edinburgh shop. It comes in a black nondescript box (the contents description towards the top does not jump out at you) 'hidden' between other black nondescript boxes, all with John Lewis products in them and a bit hidden I thought so you may have to ask, do, it is worth it. Value for money: For around half the price of branded cables that come in flashy expensive packaging you can't use, I now have a perfectly working optical cable. OK the more expensive cables look better and have thicker ends to grab hold of but I had no problem fitting this one. Fitting: Remove the clear cover from the cable's end. Make sure you get the correct position / right side up into the radio / TV's optical socket (I did not need to remove covers from these) and press until you feel or hear a light click and you are done. Performance: Perfect. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't think so, I am very happy with this cable and will buy another one if I need one. Note: Check the length of cable you need before you run out to get one. This 1.5 meter is perfect for me. 05 April 2014
