Nice looking product but beware it cannot cope with heavy loading. We have had ours for only a year and the wood has snapped with a pair of trousers and a shirt on it. Wouldnt recommend. It looks great but practicality wise is not useful where the plastic equivalent is far more durable.

Brought this as I thought it would look nicer and last longer than the metal ones but within a year it's showing signs of serious mould, obviously not property designed for damp clothes to be hung on it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by StanleytheManly Nice thats its made of real wood, not fit for purpose
These look the part, and for a while worked well. Over time they warp and pop out of their joints. You spend the odd moment initially popping them back in, and then after a while it becomes more and more frequent.
I've just walked past ours, nudged it slightly and its collapsed in a heap for what must be the tenth plus time.
Life's too short to spend the 15 minutes it will take to assemble it again. Avoid

A bit of history
My grandmother bought these 40-50 maybe more years ago and they have lasted forever and are still being used. They have bent a bit
My Mum bought hers 15-20 years ago and they are constantly losing screws which we have replaced and the wood has gone to the moon, I mean warped.
I would like to buy some more for my Mum but if there as bad as the ones she has now I don't want to waste the money on the expensive one when it lasts just as long as the cheap on
Two reviews in one, How lucky

Rated 1 out of 5 by HS13 OK for dry clothes but don't put damp clothes on it!
Have had for a few weeks now.
Have used for damp clothing.
The wood struts have bent, and there is black mould on the untreated wood.
If you want to air clothes that are already dry, then will work fine.

I would have given this a great review when I first purchased it but 2 years later the screws have come loose & the wood warped so it's fallen apart.

When my old one of these finally broke the other day, I ordered a new one from the website. I was very unimpressed, however, to find that on its arrival, unlike its predecessor, its rungs were not covered in plastic. I know, from other people's airers, that wooden airers not covered in plastic will eventually leave wooden line marks on wet clothes. I returned this to the store and picked a cheaper one up from Lakeland, which is exactly the same but with plastic covers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by hamsforlegs Handy, robust and all woody and stuff
Classic design. Just like the one I remember from my childhood, this one feels flimsy and gives the constant impression of unreliability. And yet it withstands all sorts of use and abuse without complaint, and continues to look tactile and woodeny as all good John Lewis shoppers should appreciate.
If you live in a small London flat like us, your clothes airer is a piece of furniture that you spend a lot of time admiring. This one is easy on the eye and does the job.
