John Lewis Golden Afternoon Candle
To mark our 150th anniversary, we're collaborating with some of our longstanding suppliers to create unique and exclusive commemorative products. This print dates back to our founding year of 1864, and was originally printed as a furnishing fabric.
This candle contains the spicy notes of saffron, with dewy rose blended with exotic oud and softened with creamy musks.
It's inspired by Leckford Abbas, one of the main houses on Leckford Estate, which was bought by John Spedan Lewis in 1928. It covers 4,000 acres in Hampshire and includes a Waitrose farm, plant nursery and water garden. The Abbas was built on the eve of the 20th century by Sir Bannister Fletcher of warmly coloured Bath stone. The house would have enjoyed its heyday during the Edwardian 'Golden Afternoon', before WWI. It's the perfect candle to commemorate John Lewis' 150 years.
