Q & As

John Lewis Hungarian Goose Down Duvet, 13.5 Tog (9 + 4.5 Tog) All Seasons 4.7 5 24 24
Let down I had wanted to buy this duvet for a couple of years now and finally did so in January. Whilst nice to sleep under John Lewis have seriously underated the strength of the press studs needed to hold the two duvets together. When you shake the duvet in the morning the two duvets gradually work apart and misalign so, every 3 days, the duvet has to be taken out of its cover and all the press studs have to be redone and the duvets realigned. This is a problem from the off. Fine if you have the time! Otherwise the duvet functions well as a pricey bed cover. 02 July 2014
Most comfortable duvet we've ever owned! We have had a silent battle with all seasons duvets over the last fifteen years. I am too cold, he too hot. This is the first Goose Down Duvet we have bought and it is perfect. Neither of us is too hot or cold, just snug and warm during the cold winter nights using just the 9 tog. It feels so luxurious, and not being a morning person, I am now finding it tougher than ever to get up! 13 January 2013
Disappointing This is the third time that we've bought a goose down duvet from JL - the last time was around 10 years ago so these duvets certainly last well - but I'm really disappointed in this replacement one. I don't know if they've changed the down content (I see this is 80/20) but this is just not as soft and light as our previous ones. It just doesn't "loft" in the way that I've come to expect of down duvets, and, in comparison to our old one at least feels more like a wet blanket. That is something of an exaggeration, but the diappointment with this product (which is a considerable price) is real. 11 January 2013
warm and comfy Brought this for my girlfriend. Still not sure I understand the need to have two duvets in one, but I have to confess it is comfortable and warm. A bit too warm in summer for me but my girlfriend loves it. The only very minor negative is that it is very russly. 29 July 2012
Worth every penny Well made, light weight, yet warm and cosy - even my husband has commented on how nice this duvet is! In this cold weather the two layers (13.5 tog) has been more than adequate to keep us warm, but it looks easy enough to split it apart for the summer months. Only time will tell how durable it is. However, if my duck feather pillow (also purchased at John Lewis) is anything to go by, I am sure I am going to be really pleased with this product over time. 15 February 2012
Really excellent product The John Lewis ordering and delivery service were superb as usual. Even managed to sort out a double delivery charge no problem after I confused the ordering process! Quilt in question is excellent, very versatile, light weight and very comfortable around you. It allows you to have a relaxed nights sleep without waking up with that 'sweaty' feeling you sometimes get. It does need airing which is not a problem and 'wafting' just to ensure that the feathers are even. Overall build quality is superb, feathers stay in place, and a very good buy for the price. 15 February 2012
hard to get out of bed nowadays This is the first time I've had a goose down duvet. I was worried that down might spark my partner's allergies but I took the risk, and it doesn't :-) It's a lovely soft, fluffy, warm duvet which does, as a previous reviewer warned, make it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. It does have a papery crinkly sound, but I don't notice it any more. I think it actually looks nice and welcoming and plump on the made-up bed, too. It felt like an expensive purchase, but in fact it replaces our old summer and winter duvets, and I'm expecting a good few years' snuggling under it. Glad I bought it. 15 February 2012
Wonderful warmth Yesterday returned from a holiday in Myanmar with fantastic tropical temperatures. Dreaded returning to the cold of UK but our new duvet kept us unbelievably warm last night. My husband remarked that it was perhaps even a little too warm! Pleased I bought an all seasons as we have a fairly cold bedroom. 09 February 2012
