Rated 1 out of 5 by MG16 Terrible assembly instructions
I'm sure that people who gave such good reviews had a different set of instructions to mine. I've done a lot of self-assembly and I've never experienced anything so inadequate. Instructions and descriptions were very poor and sometimes misleading, and there was a lack of clear illustration. Unbelievably, the wrong code was used to refer to key parts and there was no reference at all to securing the unit to a wall. One of the main stages in the process was well-nigh impossible and very unpractical. Expect better from John Lewis.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JCT15 Exactly what I needed
Needed a narrow shelf unit for a very small space in a bathroom. Instructions on first glance looked complicated but got a picture of the unit up on the computer which made it easier to work out which parts went where. Put it together with my teenage daughter, easier with 2 people and didn't take long at all. She loves it. Very pleased.

Quality, delivery and ease of putting together all first rate. Just as would be expected from a trusted supplier.
Perhaps the instructions could have done with a little tweaking and the addition of a couple of tips, but nothing significant.
After screwing tubes to one side of the frame, laying it down and adding the rods, we found it easier to partly screw in the other end of the tubes to the other side of the frame two at a time before manipulating the rods next to them and working our way down the unit in this way then tightening them all.
Look carefully at the pictures showing how the glass shelves are secured.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brighton69 Very Good Buy
I wanted this shelf unit for my new wet room, which I'm designing around a painting of Brighton's two piers. The unit represents one of the struts of the newer pier! Now just need to get the coloured flashing lights installed . . .
Easy enough to assemble by one person, is sturdy and also ideal for a smaller space.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Hampshire44 Really handy item but pieces missing
I bought mine quite a while ago now. Must be well over a year. I keep it in the bathroom and it is excellent. I am thinking of getting another although on my last one, the six shelf one, there were pieces missing (the round bars and screws) so mine has only ever had the use of five shelves. I did leave a message with john Lewis about it at the time but did not follow it up so acknowledge responsibility for that. Would still recommend the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Amelie14 Excellent value for money
This little shelf is perfect, excellent value for money, looks great in my bathroom which already has other chrome accessories and so it is a great / smart addition to the overall "look" of the bathroom etc. I cannot personally comment on "how easy" it is to assemble, as I was very lucky to have a relative who did the job for me... (He said it was a super easy job, but then it is someone who is extremely extremely good at DIY..) We decided to use the the little "hook device" provided with the shelf to attach it to the wall, as it felt rather unstable otherwise, but I think this could be because I have a very thick carpet in my bathroom.

The Ice 6 shelf unit does exactly as it says on the tin. It is well made, looks great, and offers needed storage in a small floor space. Very easy, almost fun to assemble with instructions even I could understand. Happy I purchased - only sorry I waited so long.

Rated 1 out of 5 by RedKen Good design but poor quality stainless steel
The build was relatively easy if a little complicated however the initial impression had me concerned over the metal quality this has been borne out by rust already appearing on the securing bracket, less then one month old! I will see how bad it is after two months, if it gets any worse I will consider returning item to JL. Shame as it was exactly what we wanted.
