Q & As

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent product gives that classy finishing touch to our new bathroom 03 November 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Really well made but... Don't use this on anything other than a brick or block wall. My internal partition walls were just too soft and the rail wobbled up and down a bit so I had to return it. 29 September 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Do not buy this Fixings for this heavy and large rail are totally ill-designed and inadequate. A triumph of idle "designers" not wanting to consider implications of fixings as it would disturb the slick design. I am a competent DIY-er but this rail ended up having to be supported from below by a steel toothbrush holder balanced on a radiator ! If your wall is only slightly out of true very difficult to try to adjust fixings and likely cause damage to wall plaster. John Lewis should withdraw this product as not fit for purpose. ps 3 other reviews of the current 7 refer to this deficiency. 24 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good product A surprisingly secure mounting for such a small contact area, and this rail looks really secure. it is well finished and holds the towels as well ! 28 July 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by not what I expected I am a huge fan of John Lewis and bought this instead of buying the Robert Welch double towel rail. It's very tinny and looks a little cheap. The screws and fixings really don't work. We had to change ralwplugs several time. Very disappointed as the holes have been drilled to fit in my newly tiled bathroom and I can't change this as I don't want to have to drill any more holes into the wall. I'm having my toilet downstairs tiled and I won't be buying any thing else from this range. 11 September 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by A DEAD WEIGHT ON YOUR WALL This towel rail weighs 1.311 kilogrammes. Now imagine that sort of weight hanging off your wall before you put any towels on it. The other drawback with it is that each fitting is secured to the wall with only one screw - so the result is that you cannot create a firm anchor to the wall to hold it, even with strong hollow wall anchors or metal plasterboard fixings to screw into. Mind you I will be the first to admit that DIY is not my favourite pastime but there is absolutely no reason on earth why this product needs to be so heavy 03 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good quality and design but fiddly screws I never thought towel decisions about towel rails could be so difficult. This range is a good choice for quality and price - midway between the different options you will find on this site. My only reservation is that the tolerances for the tiny screws that hold it all together are so small that I had to fiddle about with bits of cardboard so that I could fit the screw into the hole. I nearly gave up. So in summary a good product marred by a small but important detail. I would still buy more pieces from this range. 03 January 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Too heavy for plasterboard walls hence one star. Tried three different fixings for plasterboard walls. The rail is too heavy for plasterboard. It must be fixed to a solid wall. Looks great and the finish is 1st class. 28 August 2012
