Q & As

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Inferior to previous models This machine has been a disappointment. After having used a John Lewis dishwasher for years until it finally expired we bought another, but this time the design has changed and the top drawer/basket has been made so that it is as difficult as possible to load glasses properly. We have had many broken as a result and wish we had kept the basket from our old model. This is the first time we have been less than happy with a product bought through the Partnership. 16 March 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not recommended We are sending this dishwasher back as it does not clean all of the dishes all of the time. The very first wash left dishes dirty. Also it is much smaller than our previous Bosch freestanding model, so we have to wash twice as often, the bottom rack does not slide in and out freely but "sticks". The upper rack is not wide enough at each side to hold glasses/ cups which then fall over. The rack also seems to suction itself to the back of the machine when closed so we have to pull hard to pull it out each time. The guys were very helpful when fitting but I am unhappy about being charged a second connection fee when I am only returning the dishwasher as it is not really fit for purpose as it does not wash the dishes properly. Finally, I was told in the shop that I was buying an Aeg but the guys who came to fit told me it was a Zanussi so I am unsure what the actual make is I also had to remove the cutlery tray cover as the holes were too small for our cutlery. Overall not a machine to recommend,,sadly 20 February 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rubbish. Don't buy! This is an incredibly inferior product on many levels, and I wish we'd never bought it. In operation, the main frustration is the upper shelf. We have fairly standard mugs, glasses, cups etc - and none of them will actually stand upright in the upper shelf. Almost every item (apart from slim tumbler glasses) put in there falls over. And even if you manage to prop something up, you then hear it fall over as you carefully slide the drawer back in, meaning you are heading for a re-pack every time you put more stuff in there. Even when it's fully loaded, all the items tilt and lean against each other. Plus the poor design means that we get less dishes in, and are having to wash daily rather than every other day. We've also found that the items don't dry well in the dishwasher. They come out wet still. The other major issue was the installation, which I decided to do myself. This unit has three legs - the back leg is cheap plastic, and comes with a sort of adjustment device accessible from the front. Probably a great concept, but in our case the plastic adjustment device broke off immediately we tried to adjust the height of the device under our sink, and then when I tried to change the height of the leg manually the cheap mechanism collapsed and broke once the unit was back in the recess under the sink. Which meant we had the dishwasher in and out of the recess multiple times, and I've now had to stand the back of the unit up on a couple of pieces of wood, and because of this we can't get the small adjustment needed to move the unit right to the top of the recess. I also found the unit to be very flimsy when adjusting height etc, and don't expect it to last long before the hinges sag or bend. So in summary - a cheap inferior insubstantial product. Poor internal design, not fit for actually stacking cups/glasses. And a shoddy leg adjustment system that will make installation a misery, if not impossible. Avoid! 21 December 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Our first dishwasher Seems good; manages to wash well even on quick wash. Some of the layout isn't perfect for our crockery, but very minor quibble. NIce and quiet 09 December 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Quick and quiet! The outstanding feature of this dishwasher is the 30 minute quick wash. At first I thought I might have to use one of the longer cycles for the 'roast dinner' dishes but I've not had to resort that. The quick wash has been able to cope with it all - very useful at busy family occasions. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because the design of the racks, particularly the top one can make it difficult to stack small plates and bowls. 04 November 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very poor - Would not recommend Very disappointed with this machine. It does not wash as well as our previous Bosch machine which we only replaced as we needed an integrated dishwasher. The machine consistently leaves lots of crockery dirty, which we then have to wash by hand. I also agree with the other reviews in that the trays are badly designed and as a result hold very little compared to other full size machines. It is a shame this machine is so bad, all our other JL appliances have been great. 27 October 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Washes well, but ... On the whole, we are really pleased with this item. It washes better than the more expensive Whirlpool we had, and the quick wash does a very good job. Just a couple of downsides. I agree with Claire about the trays, they are not that well designed and we cannot load it as easily as the Whirlpool. And whilst the quick wash is brilliant, the 70 degree wash tends to leave the items damp, oddly, although they are very hot. But as I said, we feel this is good value for money. 06 October 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Would not recommend Have always been really pleased with JL appliances (washing machine & fridge freezer to date), however this dishwasher can only be described as adequate. It does not wash as well as my last dishwasher, a Siemens, and as a result I have to pre soak a lot of the more soiled dishes. In addition the top rack and to a lesser extent the lower rack do not load well. I am now regularly doing 2 runs a day (family of 4) in order to wash the same amount of dishes as before. The top rack struggles to accommodate our glasses and bowls which are bog standard sizes. Come on JL you can do better. 24 September 2014
