Q & As

John Lewis JLBIGH602 Gas Hob, Stainless Steel 3.6 5 5 5
Excellent product I found the John Lewis Hob JLIGH602 to be excellent. Other reviewsers have referred to it as dangerious. as the front saucepans can topple over the front of the hob. I think that the obvious point is that saucepans should be selected of the right size to fit on the hob safely. I have done this and there is no danger of a TOPPLE. Very pleased with the product. 09 September 2013
Positively dangerous As someone else has already mentioned, pans on the front burners overhang. They have very little support and can easily tip forwards. I narrowly missed tipping half a gallon of boiling sauce over myself yesterday, I jumped out of the way and just got a few minor splashes. I would not recommend this hob, it really is very dangerous indeed and I will be asking for it to be replaced. Don't even think about it if you have children. The cast iron support is, I think, probably not cast iron - it conducts heat much more than genuine cast iron, something else to look out for if that's what you're used to. 16 July 2012
Nice but.... well, looks attractive but the pots overhang on the front rings so there is a tendency to place the pots further back and off-centre on these rings. Also the pot support is cast iron and a rather rough finish that has scratched the stainless steel front control section - unless these are replaced very, very carefully the scratching cannot be avoided. Stove enamel pot support in black would be a better option. I wouldn't buy this one next time around but we'll live with it........ 09 September 2011
Just FABULOUS! Saw it ,loved it, fitted it! just fitted into my new kitchen perfectly. thank you John Lewis. 08 July 2011
Reassuring safety The reason we chose this product was the safety of its design. The metal supports effectively give a completely level surface over the entire hob area, minimising the danger of pots and pans falling off the burner, and enabling us to slide a pan gently off the burner. We also appreciate the fact that the large burner is at the back; on many other hobs it is at the front, with the result that the largest pans have to be nearest to the edge. As I am left-handed and my wife is right-handed, we also appreciate the positioning of the controls in the centre at the front. This hob was ordered as a replacement for an earlier order that had turned out to be too big for safety regulations. John Lewis were happy to arrange installation without a second installation charge, and we managed to avoid too much bother arranging the installation, largely because we had had a lot of bother arranging the first installation and were determined to pursue John Lewis relentlessly to ensure it didn't happen again. This time we made the discovery that our area actually comes under Bluewater and that we shouldn't have been sent to Oxford Street the first time to arrange installation. After installation we were a little concerned about the colour of the flame, but a call from a maintenance engineer was easily aranged; he made some adjustments and also gave some reassuring advice. 11 June 2011
