This microwave produced so much condensation that within three months of it's purchase, it had rusted on the inside.
John Lewis replaced it with another one of the same model. This also fills up with condensation every time I use it and smells absolutely disgusting.
The engineer who came to look at the first microwave said he had been called out to several others of the same model that were also experiencing the same problems.
Unfortunately, I purchased the matching double ovens and have them in a wall unit next to the microwave. This means I cannot replace the microwave with a different model, as it would ruin the look of my new kitchen.
I feel really sad and disappointed that I purchased these these matching units. John Lewis have been really unhelpful. I can only recommend that nobody else purchases this microwave and experiences the same problems as myself.
Where has the John Lewis brand magic gone?

This item was purchased to replace a JL stainless steel integrated machine which broke down when just 5 years old. We were obliged to choose this machine to match the existing equipment in our kitchen but from the start it did not perform anything like the the previous one which had performed well during it's 5 year life. Our experience is very like the earlier reviews. Firstly it filled with steam almost during all cooking and condensation was running down the door and the interior. The condensation made it difficult to see through the glass door and was so bad that it ran down the door and threatened to enter the electronic controls of the main oven which is in the housing below it. After a short period of use a nasty smell built up and never goes away. It requires constant wiping to remove the condensation but this does not get rid of the smell. Food does not cook evenly or is overdone in parts but barely warm in others. We resorted to power setting at lower than food makers suggestions but foods still splutter, splash or boil over, even when covered. Also the touch control for setting the cooking duration is erratic. Sometimes refusing to cycle through the mins and seconds or stopping in mid cycle - very annoying given the main problems. The machine has no ventilation or turntable unlike the one it replaced - this appears to be the root cause of the issues. JL tech help were next to useless but the shop eventually replaced the machine with the higher spec combi oven version (for which we are grateful) in the hope that it will perform better. A review will be added later. Altogether this machine is unfit for purpose, not the convenience item it should be and the running condensation is possibly dangerous - great disappointment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HAH6 Worried about this new (to me) product
I have just bought a new JL microwave. First of all I was surprised to find that there is no turntable, (despite the circular dip in the floor). The User Manual has no instruction about where to place food - I presume that one does not use the wire shelf (which my fitter had not unreasonalbly left in situ) for microwave cooking.
Although I have only used this a couple of times, I am already finding unexpected condensation etc as previous reviews.
I suspect that I am going to continue to be disappointed with this product!

This microwave looks beautiful, matches my ovens, but doesn't work! It continually fills up with steam and seems to have a design flaw - I've never had to wipe a microwave clean after every use, then leave the door open to prevent smell building up. I am working with John Lewis customer services to try and get something sorted, but it's likely I'll have to return it even though I've paid to have my kitchen adjusted to fit it. Very unhappy unless JL can come up with some of their famed customer service magic!

I agree with the comment left by a previous reviewer.
I purchased this microwave to accompany the oven (which is good). However, there is no fan at the back like the oven (and the previous model of this microwave).
The fan is in the top of the microwave, and vents out the front. This in itself is not a problem. However, the microwave fan is not strong enough and the ventilation is very poor.
Condensation builds up very easily and it leaves terrible smells, which last for ages.
I have to clean/wipe the condensation from the microwave every time I used it. I then have to leave the door open for a long time. This *just* about keeps the things from rusting and in working order.

We went for this microwave largely because it matches the (fantastic) built in oven in the same range. Unfortunately this microwave is one of the worst appliances we've ever bought.
Although it's powerful, the lack of a turntable means that food invariably ends up overcooked and dried-out in some corners; and underdone in others. Even turning the food during a cycle doesn't help much (and begs the question why there's no turntable in the first place).
There is no fan so steam builds up inside during cooking, and condensation and smells remain hours or even days after use.
The microwave beeps once a programme is finished ... and beeps and beeps and beeps. There's no way to switch it off. Which is annoying.
Altogether, an expensive (if goodlooking) disappointment.
