Encased in the stainless steel exterior of the John Lewis JLMWSL004 microwave are plenty of useful and versatile features.

This microwave offers a variety of programmes for simple, fast cooking. There are four Auto Cook settings for jacket potatoes, rice, and fresh and frozen vegetables, while the Special Cook function is great for cooking dishes including porridge, pasta and scrambled egg.

You can also set the microwave to reheat, rather than cook, soups and sauces, chilled ready meals and drinks. An LED display makes setting cooking programmes simple.

A choice of automatic defrost settings help you to defrost your food quickly and evenly, while reducing ‘hot spots’ in food. There is also a child safety lock, to prevent accidents and simultaneously ensure your food can cook without interruptions.

SO EASY TO OPERATE This is more compact overall than my last microwave but bigger inside, Nice and bright, can see what's cooking. Will take a casserole dish large enough for a whole chicken. Only difficulty was getting the protective film off the case. It took my husband and I about half an hour - it was like sellotape gone wrong!! The controls are brilliant - so quick and easy for an old person who hates touch screen microwaves. Apart from the sticky film issue, I would rate it 5 star. 22 April 2013

Very poor I purchased this microwave on the basis of the past reviews. Unfortunately my experience was totally different. The first machine arrived with only 3 feet instead of four and therefore totally unstable. John Lewis Customer Services initially advised that I should deal with LG (who make the microwaves for John Lewis) myself. I refused and eventually I was told that the best solution would be for a new microwave to be delivered. The new microwave arrived and when it was used there was a smell of burning, the actual microwave became very hot but the food remain uncooked. John Lewis have agreed to replace this machine with another of my choice. I am going with Panasonic and hope I have better luck. 03 February 2013

Easy to operate Very pleased with this microwave. It's capacious inside but doesn't take up much room on my work surface. It's handsome to look at and not difficult to work out how to use. My one complaint is the noise it makes. It's the noisiest microwave I've ever owned. I thought there was something wrong with it until I read some of the other reviews. On the whole, however, John Lewis has produced a fine product. 31 January 2013

does the job this is not the most attractive appliance, compared to microwaves i have purchased previously it looks and feels a little basic but it was alot less expensive thatn my previous purchases. I only use it for reheating things rather than genuine cooking but i've had no problems with it so far and would be happy to recommend it if appearance is not a major concern. One feature i do like is that the glass plate is inset into base of microwave. 29 January 2013

Excellent microwave, good looking too We ordered this microwave to replace a 10 year old basic model that we used for defrosting and reheating casseroles etc. The microwave fits into a slot above the oven and below a cupboard. I've been very pleased with this new one so far. I struggled to find one with an internal size large enough to take a casserole dish to feed five. The turntable is 30.5 cm diameter so easily takes a dinner plate or casserole dish. The internal walls are white giving a clean bright effect. I've found that the auto defrost programme defrosts chicken thighs and mince perfectly. There are plenty of cooking programmes but I've only used spud heating and auto defrost so far. The summary table inside the door really helps to remind as to which programme to select. The appearance is smart and I've had no trouble with finger smudges on the brushed steel surface. Can't fault so far - very satisfied. 18 January 2013

Good Stuff! This microwave is sturdy, attractive in a simple but elegant sort of way, effective in producing evenly heated / cooked foods. My one complaint is that I must admit to finding it somewhat noisy. 11 January 2013
