Product information

In a smart white finish, the 4-star John Lewis JLUCFZW6010 under-the-counter freezer has an A+ rating for energy and can safely freeze and then store food for up to 12 months. Conveniently, you do not have to defrost, so the food retains more nutritional value and colour, and saves you time.

There is a ‘quick-freeze’ setting with automatic return that reduces the freezer temperature for a fixed time. This ensures that freshly added food is frozen quickly to preserve its quality, while the food already stored remains better protected.

The 4 transparent drawers are also removable for easy loading and unloading, while the door can be hinged right or left to suit your kitchen layout. The JLUCFZW6010 meets the latest environmental standards and is CFC and HFC free. With audio/visual temperature alert for extra peace of mind.

The John Lewis name is always an assurance of reliable quality, great design and absolute value. Incorporating the latest engineering features and electronic systems, our appliances are thoughtfully and stylishly conceived to meet all the demands of the contemporary kitchen. There’s also a 3-year guarantee, backed by our very special reputation for excellent service.

Icing problem cured Bought the very similar earlier model 6002 in 2006.I am surprised that the icing fault has not been cured by now. Mine iced up after about a year giving a lack of temperature control with variations from -18 to -4 degrees. The engineer explained that the problem was water freezing in the drain tube blocking it with ice. This caused a build-up of water inside, which froze and eventually stopped the internal air circulation. After manually defrosting ( remove the internal plastic molding first - 4 screws at the back), the machine worked well for another year before giving the same symptoms. I solved the problem by fixing a short length of 1 mm copper wire through the drain tube, retained by a bend on the inside, and protruding into the drip tray on top of the compressor. This wire has conducted enough heat from the room air, to prevent ice forming in the drain tube for the last 6 years. The reason I have viewed this web page, is that the machine has just had a total electrical failure. The display was alight when I switched it off at the mains, but was dead when I switched it back on. Fuses were Ok. Apart from the above, It has been fine, but the buttons on the front are too exposed to children's fingers and it sometimes sounds like a cross between a hen coop and a pair of pigeons. 14 April 2014

Good Value Freezer Excellent Freezer - very quite in operation. Ample storage space. Clear controls. 12 February 2014
Ve ry good This has proved to be an excellent choice for me. The reviews published here helped me to select the best freezer for me alongside referring to Which?. This is a very, very quiet freezer and as it is effectively in my open plan kitchen living room that was important to me. I can hardly hear it cut in and out. I am not sure I like the design of the handle but that is relatively unimportant. It has proved to be better insulated that the figures would indicate. When the power was off for 12 hours on several occasions over Xmas it hardly changed temperature. Well done John Lewis. Great value. 05 February 2014
Appears adequate I will repeat what I emailed to Customer Services shortly after receipt: "Whilst I am sure that the new John Lewis JLUCFZW6010 will do its job, I have to say that my first impressions are those of mild disappointment. The capacity is significantly smaller [than the faulty Bosch model it replaced] and there seem to me to be a number of design issues: - the position and style of the on/off switch mean that it would be possible to turn the freezer off accidentally - indeed that could be done by a dog putting a paw in the wrong place. The other switches could also be operated inadvertently but with less potentially serious effects. I think that I shall probably, for peace of mind, design and make guards to fit over the switches - the large protruding handle invites being walked into - the curved front limits capacity I understand the argument that the general less solid feel of the product is factored into its price and clearly I was faced with a situation where the discontinuation of the Bosch model with no direct successor left me with a very limited range of non-integrated, counter height, auto-defrost freezers from which to choose. My current feeling is that if in future I come across a new Bosch model or equivalent from another manufacturer I will probably buy that and either relegate the new JL unit to seasonal use or sell it." On top of that I has proved to be fairly noisy in operation. 31 December 2013
Freezer Another good product for the price from Jo would recommend 19 December 2013
good price for this product Freezer arrived in the time and on the day stated. It was good value for money with automatic fast freeze, audio and temperature alerts all of which are extremely useful. 15 December 2013
Frost free failed after 4 years. I bought this freezer 4 years ago and have been very pleased with it. However over the last two weeks the temperature has been dropping intermittently setting of the alarm. Finally yesterday the alarm stayed on. The Engineer called this afternoon and showed me the amount of ice that had built up and blocked the drain. So much for frost free. The freezer has now been fixed and hope this is the end of the problem.I see from other reviews this is not an unknown occurence. 05 December 2013
