Q & As

Not for beginners This was a gift and am pleased with the finished product but feel it was more luck than judgement. Firstly the kit had 2 pairs of needles - one long, one short - and no bodkin. It did not contain enough pink beads for the suggested design so I had to modify the pattern - and not enough pink thread for sewing them on. The instructions left a lot to be desired, being very vague and needed supplementing with youtube clips. If this is typical of the quality of John Lewis kits, I'd think twice before attempting another. 16 January 2014
Steep learning curve I got this from my daughter as a Christmas present and started it Christmas Day. After three unsuccessful efforts, I gave up and waited two days to ask a knitting guru friend for help. She said the instructions could have been better as they said nothing about pulling the yarn to make the bubble effect. The end fell off one of the needles. They are too short anyhow so I bought longer ones. After mastering the technique, I'm REALLY enjoying making the tea cozy The purple pom pom seems an odd colour choice. It should have been pink or green. But I'm glad my daughter gave it to me. I'm enjoying finishing it. 12 January 2014
Good practise Persevere with the pattern it is well worth the time and effort. The needles could have been longer in order to take the amount of stitches needed but I managed. I have now knitted five more tea cosies in various colours! I bought longer needles! 11 April 2013
Make your own knitted tea cosy. Usually John Lewis' products are great, however in this instance we had a problem which means we can't start it because the kit didn't include the instructions. This is a shame because it was a present and the store is to far away to return it! 17 March 2013
