John Lewis Lexington Floor Lamp
pushing the boat out
We have had numerous similar lamps over the years and most have died after a relatively short time hence we bought the Lexington. Its design was far neater than anything bought previous, the silver chrome is very attractive and the controls are convenient and appear to be far more robust, the light is bright and the dimable controls are novel and easy to use
On the down side its expensive for this type of lamp and putting it together is a bit fiddly for one person but still easier than most although I did manage to scratch the base as I assembled it. Reliability and life expectancy is unknown but I expect it to be good and it certinly adds to the look of my room.

Blew a fuse immediately, rubbish product
Comes split in half, with the cord inside loosened to allow for the bend.
The outer cover of the cord in mine had obviously been split at some stage, as somebody had put tape around it. I removed the tape and discovered a massive cut in the outer cover, but the wires inside looked intact. Guess I didn't look carefully enough, as as soon as I plugged the lamp in, it blew the fuse and now the lamp doesn't work.
So, back to Waitrose to return this, then to Ikea to buy a lamp that actually works.

Really good light
We purchased this light to replace two floor standing ones. It has a really bright light that I can do my needlework or knitting by or the individual one is great if only one of us wants to read.
In all a good lamp.

These are really lovely lights and have a good range of lighting available, with the dimmer you can change the mood of the lights.
Only a slight complaint that on one of the adjustable arms there are some small marks on the chrome which can't be seen unless you know they are there. Didn't want the hassle of sending it back as the packaging was extensive.

Lexington Floor Lamp review
This is a very stylish light. Its more expensive than rivals but looks a lot classier. Its also very easy to assemble. It gives good light for reading and the upper light can be dimmed but not the reading light.

Sturdy & stylish
When assembled this is a sturdy & stylish floor lamp. Assembly required two people and clearer, better illustrated instructions would have helped avoid confusion about the screw which was located on the upper joint of the stand. It was very tiny and was actually already in situ, only requiring to be aligned & tightened up with the key provided. Time was wasted searching for the screw in the pack of fittings & requesting a replacement in the belief that it was missing. Service was prompt and helpful but make sure to have a second pair of hands for assembly - & watch out for the tiny screws!

Warning of need for self assembly would be a good idea
This is a very good lamp for the money and does all that one could expect. However it is supplied in flat pack form and though it can be assembled by one person working alone, a helper would be useful, particularly when aligning and fitting the base which is necessarily quite heavy. Also the tiny grub screws supplied in the plastic bag are quite easily lost.

We wanted an option that lighted up the whole room but also was a good reading option. This ticked both boxes... very sharp chrome look also!
