Q & As

Rated 1.8 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very badly made curtains! I bought these 'putty' coloured curtains yesterday from Bristol - not having seen previous reviews. It is lovey fabric - but the quality of sewing is just appalling! I would echo previous reviewers comments about uneven seams and add that the hems are puckered and the material flawed in several places. I will be taking them back for a refund - but hope that I can either get the fabric by the meter to make them myself or made on the 7 day option. Its such a shame because the are the perfect colour and the sunlight through them this morning was lovely 08 June 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Poor Quality Bought these curtains for our new home. Got them out of the packet and it went down hill from there. Down each seam of the curtains it went from 1cm wide to 3 cms wide. The other curtain was the same (diffrent sized seam from the top to the bottom) and as a result when they were up it looked a mess even more so when you looked outside of the house onto the curtains. They were also both covered in pulls and the light came through and showed up lots of small holes in the fabric. Took them back to our local John Lewis and showed her what the problem was. She opened another packet for us and they were the same! So we asked for a refund which we were given. Don't waste your money on these curtains. 24 April 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality curtains I should have taken the other reviews seriously when purchasing these curtains....they are of poor quality, see through in places, flaws in the fabric, the list goes on. Not a good buy! 24 April 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Various flaws in the curtains I have purchased several pairs of these curtains. Each set has had flaws. Why did I buy more, in spite of the poor quality? Well, I love the look and feel of them. They go brilliantly with Gentle Fawn from Dulux, or Ivory Lace. So... having painted every room in the house in one of the aforementioned colours, these curtains seemed perfect. As stated by other reviewers, they take a lot of ironing to look reasonably presentable. As I ironed, I noticed pulls and knots on the inside of the material. The finish of the machining was also inconsistent. The biggest flaws were noticed once up... if the curtains are pulled in daylight (eg to keep out the sun), the flaws are obvious, including small catches and missing threads so that the light shines through. Can I be bothered to take them back... no, because I've already tried to find other curtains that match my wall colours without avail. These are relatively expensive, so look at the reviews and decide if this is the best purchase for your money. Usually I am delighted with JL products and their service, so this gripe about quality is rare, I'm glad to say. 20 February 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Really disappointing I have never been so disappointed with John Lewis ready made curtains. So many creases, not just from where folded, but all over. The sides have been finished poorly with varying widths where the right side goes around to the back and meets the lining. They have been pressed down in such a way it is hard to rectify. I have hung these for two weeks , hoping some would fall out, but no luck. Even with a pressing cloth and a steam iron many of the creases are still there and I daren't press the right sides as it will flatten the chenille. I have had to shorten two of the four curtains so can't really return them. 16 December 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Extremely poor These appear to be made with very little attention to detail and with poor quality materials - from the chenille and lining to the header tape. Bought these yesterday, I came down this morning after hanging them last night I find that there is a mark on the material (on the inside - so you only see it when the light is shining through). If we lived closer these would be taken down immediately and returned. Very, very unhappy with them. 08 December 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing Quality We bought these curtains for our holiday let property and had to use them as we had a booking and no alternative. However they were of disappointing quality, light weight and the lining of one hung below the curtain and so looked untidy. A rare thing to be disappointed with something from John Lewis though. We are always impressed with the service. 20 January 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by well made bought these curtains for my sons bedroom, much darker than in the picture but have kept them as they will do the job, not sure how well they will keep the sun out as we have not had any sunny mornings yet to find out!!! 31 December 2012
