John Lewis Mala Table Lamp
Good lamp for different lighting levels
I had never purchased a touch lamp before and was a bit wary of them, because I had heard people say that they could malfunction and that you couldn't use energy-saving bulbs with them.
So far, I have been able to fit two Philips energy-saving bulbs into the two lamps that I bought (one for each bedside table on either side of my double bed) and they have functioned fine.
The wooden base is especially handy. If it were metal, it would be easier to accidentally switch it on in the middle of night, if you needed to reach for something and touched it by mistake. As it is, the base is made of wood, so touching it will not turn the lamps on. If you want to do that, you have to physically tap the metal top of the base or the stem of the lamp.
The dark wooden base will also go with any decor, since it is offset by the light colour of the lampshade.

We are very happy with the product in terms of ; its quality and price and also with its operation. The footprint is conveniently small and therefore it does not take up any significant amount of space on the table where it is situated. The touch control is very effective and avoids searching for the type of switch which is more conventional. Whilst it is titled as a Table Lamp we suggest that it might be also be entitled and marketed as a bedside lamp.

Nice little lamp
Attractive and good value. The base is small but it has some weight, so not as easy to topple as you might think. Touch the base to select between 3 levels of brightness - this works really well but can be a challenge if you're half asleep and scrabbling around to turn it off.

good product, works well but base could be a little wider.

This lamp is fantastic and very different from all the others out there at the moment. The size is not too big and takes up very little space. It has a beautiful rectangular lampshade which is made from lovely natural coloured material, has a dark wood base under a silver plate and silver stem. The touch base is a great idea - the light can be left low or can be touched two more times to make the light brighter. It is an expensive looking lamp and one I would buy again. Highly recommended if you are looking for something a bit different and not too big.

Great addition to any bedroom as with the touch base facility (turns the light on instead of a switch) you have three light brightnesses to choose from. Tap once for dim, twice for brighter and three times for brightest, absolutely brilliant for first thing in a morning when you feel like a gremlin and start shouting bright light!
The colouring of brown base and cream shade fits in with most decor and is easy on the eye, plus the base isn't very big so doesn't take up much room on your bedside cabinet.
Recommended by me. I bought two!
