How to order Roman blinds

You can customise your selection with alternative mechanisms and cord positioning. For options, see the image thumbnail above.

To order Roman blinds, please call 0345 610 0357 with your window measurements and preferred options to hand.

Once we've accepted your order and checked the fabric is in stock you should receive your custom-made item/s within 7 days.

Measuring up for Roman blinds:

Use a metal tape measure and make a note of your measurements to the nearest millimetre.

Measuring a blind inside a window recess:

Make sure the recess your blind is going into is not obstructed in any way, so the blind can hang freely when fully extended.

The depth of the recess should be at least 75mm (3 inches) to accommodate the operating mechanism.

Measure the total width from A to B and the length from C to D (see image). To allow for slight variation, measure this width at several points and make a note of the narrowest measurement.

Measuring a blind outside a window recess:

Decide how far you want the fabric to overlap on all sides – we recommend at least 45mm (1 ¾ inches). For roller blinds, add a further 38mm (1 ½ inches) for the winding mechanism

Measure the width from E to F (see image), and the length from G to H

For information, see the image thumbnail above.

Size restrictions: Minimum and maximum widths and drops apply to custom-made items. We'll advise you on these when taking your order.

Q & As

John Lewis Mangalore Fabric 3.3 5 3 3
Mangalore fabric Over a year ago had curtains (sill length, for bedroom) made up in this fabric; thought they would drop a little but have not. So far no problems but have not needed to dry clean yet. Am glad that other customer/s alerted to potential shrinkage so will be prepared when cleaned. NB: I have had first hand experience (with another product) of John Lewis making good any problems - no fuss & very prompt so do notify them if a problem does arise. 11 April 2013
shrinking curtain in response to the previous reviewer. YES I had exactly the same problem - couldn't believe my eyes! BUT do contact John Lewis - they were fantastic. They came out, agreed that the curtains had shrunk (seems it is a risk with this fabric - the thread runs horizontally?) and they are remaking the curtains somewhat longer - even offered me the chance to choose a different fabric. hasn't put me off buying curtains from John Lewis at all - completely the opposite. 26 March 2013
curtains that seems to be shrinking I bought a set of custom made curtains that went from floor to ceiling 2 years ago. When they were hung they were slightly too long - about 1 inch. Nowover time the seems to have shrunk and now sit about 1 inch above the floor. All very strange. They haven't been taken down at all. Has anyone else had the same problem 18 March 2013
