Pity Nice case. Bought for our very able granddaughter who is 8 and when it came it said 10 on the packaging. we felt that was not an issue. However, the first set would not focus and nor would the second set which was quickly replaced when we pointed out the problem. She was SO disappointed as she thought it a brilliant present but even with adult help at all times it seemed to be more appropriate for a teenager who could actually dissect or thin slice a specimen and not for simply looking at a leaf, petal, piece of paper, shell, whatever. Sorry about that. 15 August 2012

A great gift! This is a great microscope. We bought this for our son for his seventh birthday and he's been fascinated when looking at things through the lens. The samples provided are great and gave a clear illustration of the difference between what we see with the naked eye compared to what we see when using the microscope. He hasn't yet had chance to use it by himself as we have used it with him so far but it seems easy to use and I'm pretty confident he'll find it quite straightforward. A great present! 16 May 2012

Not for an 8 year old! Good product in a quality case but the label on the case clearly states it is for 10+ not an 8 year old as stated on the website. Unfortunately we will be retuning the item 18 November 2011
