Q & As

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A wonderfully stylish dining room centre-piece Fascinating and beautiful design. Quite easy assembly as just top to put on – base already assembled. Needs a little bit of paitience to align with 3 people but wasn’t too hard, then need to adjust feet to get base level. Overall I'm delighted having spent many hours browsing the Internet for the right table. As others have mentioned about sctatching I checked mine and although one or two there nothing terrible as I have owned other glass tables. My dining area looks a million dollars! 07 April 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not Fit For every day use Loved the look and style of this table in store and purchased it on line just a year ago, we are really disappointed in its quality. Tempered glass is usually much better that this one and we have many scratches ( we have used mats since day one) even salt grains cause damage (how good is this tempered glass??) The base is difficult to stabilize and guests sitting at or leaving the table tend to put their feet on the st/steel surface and it is now looking quite damaged, it can be rather naff having to ask guests keep their feet of the circular base!!! Only two people sit at the table daily and we take great care, I do not think it is going to serve us in the long term and will have to be replaced sooner than any other of our dining tables which is a shame as we love the look it creates in our room (but not close up). It was seeing it in store this week at Stratford which prompted this critic, as the base looked a mess and on the perfectly flat tiled floor it was very unstable. 03 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Classy quality product we love this table! It looks fantastic in the dining room as the design is light and airy making the room feel bigger. The cut glass edge gives it a feeling of real quality and we've had lots of complimentary comments from friends. Sorry to see the other reviews but we've been using it for a few months and don't seem to have the same issues. 04 March 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Lovely table - not fit for purpose As others have said extremely disappointed with this table. It looks lovely but having arrived with a small scratch already and despite careful use it already has large scratches on the surface. I will be complaining to John Lewis, the table is not as resilient as it should be and certainly less so than other items of furniture we have with tempered glass. 08 January 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stunning Table Really pleased with my purchase. Bit tricky to assemble if you don't have 3 people due to the weight of glass top. Really makes quite a statement! 06 October 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by looks beautiful....but I loved this table when I saw it in the store but after reading reviews about scratching I was weary of buying it. However it's looks persuaded me. After all my husband and I are both in our 60s and we know how to look after things! Table now less than a week old, hardly been sat at and mats used at all times but it has huge scratches on it. I'm heartbroken. 26 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks good The table was delivered this morning bright and early by two exceptionally good delivery guys. As the box wouldn't fit through the door, they themselves unboxed it and put the basic shell in the dining room. Once they left, it took me no more than 10 minutes to get it all setup by myself, but yes, two or 3 people would be ideal to hold the glass up. Fortunately for me, the protection sheet on the base peeled off nicely in one go. Was worried about it based on the previous posts. No scratches on the unit to report off so far and overall looks good. I guess only time will tell if we get scratches on like the previous poster, but so I'll update here. It looks good and seems to gel perfectly into the new kitchen. 21 July 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by John Lewis Moritz Dining Table Had been struggling for a while to find a stylish kitchen table, and then stumbled across the Moritz. It easily accomodates 5 people on large swivel chairs. Although I would estimate you coud get six round the table at a push with standard width dining room chairs. Impressed with packaging it came in. Delivery people very helpful. Straight forward to put together but you do need two people ideally. I had three and it was a breeze. Only annoying part, was when I took off the protective film on the base. It would not all come free from the middle. It was quite fiddly and time consuming removing it all. It has been in use for four weeks now. Very disappointed that it scratches very easily (and I am very careful, using table mats etc) and that there are flaws in the glass which were note noticed prior to assembly. With hindsight bearing in mind the cost I would probably have steered clear of this table as other glass tables have been more hard wearing than this one. I have been pleased with other John Lewis products but not with this one. I could have been unlucky and received a faulty table re glass scratching so easily but I don't think so. 14 July 2014
