John Lewis New Luxury Hungarian Goose Down Duvet, 13.5 Tog (9 + 4.5 Tog) All Seasons
Feels like heaven
First and foremost, I chose to purchase my bedding from John Lewis because they are the only store that I can find who have an animal welfare policy on all feather and down products that they sell. The fact that they can guarantee that no birds have endured the painful practice of live plucking is fantastic!
Having previously owned an 85% goose feather 15% goose down duvet I decided to upgrade to this 90% down all seasons duvet. The difference is amazing, so light and so much softer. The press studs have stayed together, the duvets are so light that when you shake them out in the morning there really isn't much weight to un-pop them (and the 15 year guarantee gives me much piece of mind should they ever start to fail.)
I never knew luxury until I went ahead and bought fine bedding. I bought the duvet online and I'm so happy with it that I went up to their Newcastle store this week to buy the Hungarian down pillows to match. The lady working on the bedding department was lovely and helpful. All in all, a first class service both online and in store!

Great quality spoiled
4.5 Tog Summer quality excellent.
9 Tog Spring Autumn quality excellent
13.5 Tog winter warmth excellent when all poppers are working. Sadly they pop far too often giving an unbalanced and uneven warmth and feel.
Solution ; more or better poppers. We do not welcome the work necessaary to fix this infuriating problem. Any solutions ,gratefully received

Like your very own nest!
Have had this duvet for almost 2 years, and still love it just as much as the first time we used it. If there's one failing with it, it's maybe just a little too efficient, it really is super-warm!
We have the superking size and as yet have never had any problem with the poppers coming undone, all in all this comes highly recommended!

This is by far the best duvet I have ever owned. It is soft and light and hard to believe something so light can also be so warm. I used to have a 13.5 tog synthetic duvet for winter use but I have only used the 9 tog portion of this one throughout the whole winter 2012/3. I have been much warmer in my 9 tog than I ever was in my 13.5 synthetic one. I agree it is a considered purchase but considering how much time we spend in bed, it really is a no brainier. I am looking forward to using the 4.5 tog portion very soon. Would definitely recommend.

I listened to a programme on BBC Radio in which the lady who buys bedding for John Lewis was speaking. She really was enthusiastic about duvets made from goose down and feathers. It was thanks to her that I decided it was time to buy a new duvet. I did further research, read the reviews and decided on this one. I was not disappointed. This is worth every penny. It is light yet very warm and the warmth seems to be spread out (its hard to put into words). I am most impressed and I agree with another reviewer in that it certainly makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning. On the down (no pun intended) - side, the children have learnt how lovely it is and also pile into bed with us!! Coupled with the down and feather core pillows, I am sleeping so much better now... Hurray

I already have this duvet, bought after staying at friends who had one on their guest bed so already sold on it's warmth and luxurious feel. My mother was ill and stayed with us and we gave up our duvet in recognition of her need to be spoilt was greater than ours! She LOVED the lightness as well as the warmth so family Christmas gift to her was solved.

A great investment
I dithered for ages before buying but am so glad that I took the plunge. It's not cheap but it's so warm and light. I've had no problems with the poppers coming apart of their own accord but the first time I separated the two duvets one of them broke. This is when you reap the benefit of buying a British-made product from a manufacturer that is part of the John Lewis Partnership. They arranged a courier to collect the duvet, replaced the popper and returned it to me very quickly. An excellent product with superb customer service.
