Looks good, price feels good. But when it comes to practicality, these shelves are a major disappointment. Once on the wall, no matter how good the DIY work to get them there, they sag to a noticeable degree (due to poor design and build issues). The confidence levels in terms of placing anything on the shelves are reduced to a minimum as a result, not to mention the unacceptable aesthetics of a having a sagging shelf in the room. Disappointed - would have expected better quality products from JL.

Rated 4 out of 5 by sally1959 newbury floating shelf 1200cm; Stylish but get them properly fitted
Lovely looking white shelves with oak veneer trims. After reading some of the reviews we decided to get a carpenter in to fix these shelves rather than to do it wrong ourselves. We put them onto plasterboard dot and dab and used long screws which went through plasterboard and into brick. There are 3 fixings with this size and each used 2 screws.Took 2 men just over a hour to put up 3 shelves one above the other. Screws must not be too thick as can split the chipboard which is covered with melamine and trimmed with a thin oak veneer.
We also put an extra screw in one side of each shelf to attach to a built in cupboard for added support. They did wobble a little before doing this. not put anything heavy on yet and only put up a few days ago, so time will tell. They seem fine though and do look good. they did not get damaged or chipped in delivery or handling. We are happy and felt we had a good buy as we got at overstocked product discount and for this price are very satisfied with the product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sheldini Shelf sags on the bracket.
Bought three of these and drilled into solid brick with 7cm masonary screws and long rawls. Screws solid, but brackets dont sit flat and shelf rolls forward under any load.
Really disappointed with these. Bracket systems seems ill equiped to deal with weight of shelf.
V poor. Tempted to take back to JL.
Oh and as others say they chip really easily mine came with 3 small chips.

Item looks nice though it chips easily (came with chips).
Attached the shelf to the wall with the 3 supplied brackets. Been in the hallway for a few months now and the shelf is sagging badly.
Not much has been put on it, but the shelf itself is heavy. It is sagging under its own weight. Will either return or purchase brackets to attach it to the wall.
Don't buy the 120cm shelf for this reason.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Hanksy78 Look nice, not the best quality
These look really nice, but they are not straightforward to put up and do not sit tight on the fixings ro snug to the wall, with the result that they slope down towards the front of the shelves.
The specification says that each shelf takes 8kg of weight each and I would be reluctant to try putting anywhere near that amount of weight on them as they wobble on the fixings and don't seem sturdy enough.
They also damage very easily as the veneer is thin.
If you want to put anything heavy on them, I wouldn't recommend, but they're good for lightweight/decorative objects.

Beautiful shelves. Pity one is still in the box while the other is actually on the wall (after a two day stint at fitting) but my husband urges me not to put anything on it. Sigh. Knew I should have got the joiner in or did it myself....

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sfielder78 top quality - looks great
Would recommend these shelves. For me they were the best balance between cost and quality. The design is good allowing some leeway on pitch and horizontal levelling. I would recommend having two people to ensure the three brackets are in the correct position.

After buying 3 cheap inferior floating shelves from a well known DIY store, which had to be returned due to a fault with a design, I decided to splash out on these.
I'm not disappointed. They are much sturdier, of a higher quality and a much better design. Although you have to buy your own wall plugs and screws, they were fairly easy to install. The design of the brackets mean you can adjust vertically (so you don't have to drill in exactly the right spot) and the pitch, although it's important to get the horizontal distance spot on between the brackets when drilling the holes. I'm surprised they don't come with a template to make it easier - instead you have to offer up the shelf to the wall with the brackets attached and mark the wall so it's a two person job.
However, they look ace and are rock solid and totally level. My advice is not to mess about with the hollow cheap versions. Buy these instead.
