Q & As

John Lewis Plastic Mincer With Sausage Attachment 1 5 4 4
This is NOT MyJohnLewis I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this product. They all rate the product very poorly and I can only concur. In all the years of shopping at John Lewis I have never bought anything with this really low quality. It looks good but there it ends. The meat is not minced but is extruded if it goes through at all. My interest in buying this item was to experiment with making sausages which do not necessarily consist of the top quality cuts of meat. Anything with any fat or connective tissue e.g. pork shoulder quickly clogs up the machine. In the process the main feeder has become roughened with small pieces of plastic sticking out some of which have probably ended up in the “mince” and those that did not I had to scrape off before attempting to use the machine again. I had some standard sausage casings (19mm chipolata size) which I discovered will not fit on the sausage attachment. The next to useless “instructions” give no guidance as to what sizes of casings are appropriate for this machine. In addition the main body of the machine is very difficult to clean. Generally this product is not “fit for purpose” and I will return it. 26 September 2014
Do not buy Impossible to clean without dismantling. Fragile (screw sockets sheared on 3rd dismantling). Major effort to mince any meat, leaving me in a similar state to the vandalised beef shin. Triumph of form over function. 08 June 2014
Really surprised you are still selling this! We bought our mincer maybe18 months ago and have used it maybe 4 times - chiefly because it is so difficult to clean satisfactorily. It LOOKS like a John Lewis product (although the instructions look as though they were written by a four-year-old) but the design is basically flawed - either it should be water proof (not necessarily dish-washer proof) or it should be simple to take apart for cleaning and drying. Instead you are left with water/steam/bits of mince inside the mechanism. Maybe i WILL take it back. 06 May 2014
Very disappointing, didn't mince and pieces of plastic came off in the meat. Very poor product. Kept getting blocked. Used good quality meat, but did not mince, just squeezed meat into useless pulp. When taken apart for the third time, noticed that small pieces of plastic had come off the feeder and had got into the meat. Next to useless 'instructions' included - one poorly printed sheet of A4 that didn't actually instruct on how to use the product !!! Will be taking this product back - when we can work out how to clean it - not very well designed to either 'mince' or clean!! Not what I expect from John Lewis I'm afraid. 20 October 2012
