John Lewis Pocket Ortho 1600 Mattress, Kingsize

Product information

The Ortho collection has been specially designed for a firmer feel mattress without compromising on comfort. Made in Britain, this hand crafted mattress contains 1600 ReActive pocket springs, each working independently to provide total body support.

It's upholstered with materials from sustainable sources, including Airstream, a breathable polyester, recycled cotton, natural lambswool and blended silk and wool. Silver micro particles are also contained within the fabric finish which ensures a clean and fresh anti-allergenic sleeping environment.

This mattress is upholstered on both sides and should be turned with the seasons to ensure comfort and longevity. Match this mattress with a non sprung divan base or slatted bedstead to ensure firm yet sumptuous support.

This Ortho mattress is handmade by Hypnos Ltd, proud holder of a Royal Warrant from HRH Queen Elizabeth II. With over 100 years of bed making experience, the brand prides itself on helping to deliver a deep, energising night’s sleep. Q & As

John Lewis Pocket Ortho 1600 Mattress, Kingsize 4 5 9 9
comfortable and supportive Good quality. Bit expensive but you don't buy mattresses very often. Sumptuously firm. Needs turning to start with. Much warmer than other mattresses. 17 December 2014
Could have been better.... I purchased this mattress approximately 5 months ago as I was having lower back pain every morning on my old mattress. I tried this mattress out in the shop (Welwyn) along with a few others but this one felt the best with regards to firmness and it was also in my price range. The back aches improved but they have now suddenly returned and the mattress seems to have 'softened' some what to which I'm surprised considering the cost. I'm hoping I can get some advice from either John Lewis or other purchasers on whether a mattress topper would help with firmness as I'm not in a position to purchase yet another mattress? 17 November 2014
Comfy! Well worth the money; comfortable mattress; not too bouncy (good, when your other half is heavier!); easy enough to turn; has settled quite well in its first few weeks; I like the fact you can turn it (previous mattress couldn't be flipped). 17 July 2014
Excellent! Recommended. This replaced our Relyon sprung mattress a fortnight ago. The Relyon was comfortable when new but had got to the end of it's life (12 years!) and we didn't want a foam mattress as we find these too hot. This is ideal, the extra support helps my bad back and it's so comfortable - supportive but also soft enough to cushion the body. Purchased at John Lewis in High Wycombe where the bed department has an excellent range of mattresses to try, and knowledgeable staff. 09 May 2014
The most comfortable mattress we've owned We've had the mattress two weeks now and find it really comfortable, we swapped from a memory foam mattress and found this much better. Would thoroughly recommend and worth the money. Is 02 May 2014
Not as great as I'd hoped Had the mattress for 2 weeks now and can't say that it's anything special. I was hoping for an end to my back ache in the morning but it's not really delivered what I was lead to believe. We tried lots in store and decided upon this one. The one in the store was a bit lumpy but we convinced ourselves that was due to the fact that some many people had tried it out. Now looking for a mattress topper so I don't feel as though I've completely wasted my money! 26 November 2013
SNUGGLY WUGGLY!! We had this mattress "made to measure" which you can do, as out bed frame is a European Kingsize 160 x 200cm instead of 150 x 200cm. It took about 5 weeks to me made. It is nice and firm without being uncomfortable. It almost has a top layer that seems to mould to your body, but not like a memory foam. The mattress is lovely and deep and very well made. It was pretty expensive, but worth every penny. I personally love this mattress. 26 July 2013
Very comfortable I like a firm mattress, but not too firm, and this one is perfect in that respect. I have added a mattress topper (which I do to all my mattresses, for added comfort and to keep the mattress clean) and I cannot fault the comfort level at all. Excellent product! 27 May 2013
