John Lewis Potato Ricer 3.8 5 8 8
Great kitchen tool! Great kitchen tool. Easy to use and clean. Makes awesome mash! 22 April 2014
Warped out of shape on first use I used this potato ricer for the first time today - the box says the ricer is suitable for all kinds of fruit and vegetables. Unfortunately I had no joy attempting to mash cooked carrots and swede. It was extremely difficult for me to squeeze the handles together using the fine strainer insert and my husband struggled too so we switched to the slightly larger holed/strainer insert which was a teeny bit easier but not much and ultimately by the time we'd finished mashing 4 carrots and 1 swede the main body of the ricer was warped out of shape near the handle base, meaning that now when we push the handle down we can hear and feel the metal disc pushing against the sides and the resistance this creates. I'll be returning this product to John Lewis tomorrow unfortunately. 08 January 2014
Fantastic product I'm amazed the difference it made to my mashed potato. It was so easy to use and the results were so smooth and creamy. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that the packaging says it shouldn't be put in the microwave, and I do so hate washing up mashed potato. 02 January 2014
Tatie squasher Really useful. Just takes a bit of organisation. Potatoes beautifully mashed. 26 November 2013
bending metal I have had my ricer for about a year. Yes, fantastic mash until that fateful day. I had already put some boiled potatoes through the ricer and was continuing and then for no apparent reason when I tried to push the two handles together the metal support holding the 'plunger' buckled. I don't consider myself strong but reading the other review maybe I am not the only person to find a flaw in the metal. Looking around for another one now. 19 May 2013
Saves muscles Makes mash easily. Makes great pattern on fish pie topping. Useful bit of kit! 12 November 2012
Potato 'Nicer' I'm so pleased with this product - I no longer need to give my arm a workout and make a lot of noise trying to get fluffy smooth mash - I'm simply boil the potatoes and crush. It's very quick and easy and would reccomend this product to anyone. 09 May 2012
Does the job The potato ricer which I received towards the end of march looks different to the one which is being pictured now. Mine has got soft grip handles and 2 interchangable discs, but does not have the little rest on its left side which I would have liked. All together I have to say that this potato ricer does the job okay. It is very easy to clean it as almost everything can be taken apart. The main thing I would change is: to have longer levers which would make the lever action so much easier and more effective. The interchangeable discs keep coming up when I open the potato ricer after putting the first batch of potatoes in. I have not put it in the dishwasher yet but would recommend to dry the ricer as soon as possible after washing up as mine got a bit rusty after having left it for a few hours. 07 May 2012
