John Lewis Sawyer Pendant
Simple but Attractive
Very nice and attractive shade. We have used it in our sitting room, where we also have side lights. Doesn't cast the strongest light, perhaps a stronger bulb would help. I wouldn't suggest using it in the kitchen in a cooking area, but would just about suffice for eating a meal.

Light fitting was perfect for over our dining table. The cable was extremely long but my boyfriend (an electrician) just shortened it. He said it was extremely easy to fix to the ceiling which is a plus point.
We bought this in the sale so it was great value, but the fitting is very "plain" for the full asking price in my opinion.

Looks great, but let down by poor electrical design.
This is a quality shade & looks a treat, but it is seriously let down by an inability fit excess wiring into the ceiling rose. The ceiling rose is 2cm deep, 8cm in diameter. It is made from metal painted white, which is easy to accidently scratch. As supplied, the light comes with around a metre of two core plastic cable covered with a fabric outer (which frays easily). Whilst some customers might wish the light to hang a metre from the ceiling, I suspect the vast majority would wish it to sit closer. The only way this can be achieved is by cutting the flex back and re-terminating it - as no more than a few centimetres of slack cable can be taken up in the ceiling rose - even less if you've got a 'loop' from your houses wiring to fit in as well. Whilst re-terminating a cable is hardly rocket science, i'm suprised #in todays health and safety concious world# that a light fitting, which almost demands user modification, doesn't come with a larger ceiling rose to allow all the potential slack cable to be fitted within. Basically - this light is plain, simple and looks great, but if you don't want it dangling from the ceiling and aren't electrically proficiant - you're going to need an electrician to fit it.

Lovely lampshade; shame about the ceiling rose!
Really pleased with the look of this lamp, its shade, and the illumination it gives (we used a 10W low energy bulb). The beech bulb holder complements our kitchen cupboards perfectly. However...
What a shame that such a stylish lamp is let down by such an ugly, cheap-looking ceiling rose - white painted metal with very prominent screws either side. I'm sure the lamp we saw in the shop display had a more elegant conical ceiling fitting. (And the diagram in the installation instructions would seem to concur with this. Also, the installation instructions imply that after choosing a height for the lamp the excess cable could be pulled into the ceiling fitting. No way! There is barely enough room for the connector block, let alone more cable. Our installer was forced to cut off most of the excess cable and rewire the fitting - meaning we cannot lower it again at a later date.)

Sleek and simple lines
We loved this lamp. It fits in a teenager's bedroom. Screw fitting may need addressing as the lampshade fell and broke and we are in process of trying to re-order that part.
However, would recommend as a stylish and modern style light fixture.
