Poor quality for price I bought 2 of these as Easter presents for my daughter and her friend aged 10 and 8 respectively. They were very enthusiastic about embarking on the sewing projects together until we found the felt pieces were so poorly punched it was impossible to pierce the felt with the plastic needle. The pieces did not fit together properly and the instructions should have been much more child- friendly with illustrations. Overall, not the kind of quality I associate with John Lewis, very overpriced and has not inspired either girl to rush to pick up a needle again! 07 April 2013

Dreadful quality, parts missing This is not what I expect from John Lewis. The instructions are appalling, given that this is aimed at 6 year olds I would expect detailed instructions with pictures. The description states that it includes everything needed, however, glue is required which is not included. It was purchased to cheer up a little girl who has been ill, had she not been expecting it I would have returned it. The 'owl' shapes for the mirror are so badly cut out that they are torn on two sides which means that the holes for sewing through are not there. The butterfly's body pieces are missing. Completely disappointing, however, impossible to return under the circumstances given that this was ordered on next day delivery as a reward for taking nasty medicine. 04 March 2012

Nice gift for a 6 year old It was smaller than I expected, but I bought this for my 6 yr old daughter and she loves it. The sewing is easy enough for her to concentrate on without getting too frustrated. 30 January 2012

Sewing Had to send this product back as it was too young for my daughter .However if she had been the right age she would have enjoyed the product. 27 January 2012

Practical sewing box I was very pleased with above product, the contents were varied and useful, the box though very practical and a good size the outside decoration could have been a little more imaginative for a little girl. The price was excellent, overall v. pleased 12 January 2012
