John Lewis Soyuz 6 Spotlight Ceiling Bar, Polished Steel
Light fitting looks lovely but within 2-3 weeks 3 out of 6 bulbs have gone. Not sure if we have just been unlucky, John Lewis have replaced a pack of bulbs although poor experience from customer service-3 or 4 different emails sent with differing options. Only time will tell if more bulbs continue to go so quickly.

Really pleased with how this light looks now it's up, but it took us a wee while to get there. Definitely a two man job (for us anyway). Would have been better with energy saving bulbs, but at least we can use these, as we need to have one old bulb in to stop the unit flashing when it's off (long story, two way switch).

Soyuz 6 Spotlight Ceiling Bar
Excellent purchase. Spread of 6 halogen bulbs provides good surface light to all worktops in my kitchen

Not polished steel - it is chrome!
I don't like to buy chrome products because production of chrome is very bad for the environment.
This is why I decided to buy this product but, to my disappointment it turned out to be chrome (the packaging says chrome too, it's the website description that's incorrect). By the time I got home, my builder already installed the light, however, I must say John Lewis dealt with the problem very efficiently.
Apart from the fact that it is chrome, it is a beautiful ceiling light, that works well with modern features.
I gave 4 stars because of the incorrect description. I bought the Soyuz 6 back in June 2013 and it is disappointing that the website still states polished steel.

really does light up the end of my kitchen, so much better than the four block of lights i had before.

Like the bar, hate the bulbs
The bar itself is good - looks nice and appears well made. One of the arms swivels - to save on packaging and to allow varied positions - and my only complaint would be that it would be very helpful if both arms swivelled which would mean the central mounting bracket could be fixed at any angle. If you're replacing an existing fitting it can be very hard to site the bracket both with the correct alignment for the bar and avoid existing holes in the ceiling.
And another vote for letting people select their own bulbs. The supplied halogen GU10s are expensive to run (especially with six of them) and have a very short life span.

Nice lights shame about the bulbs
I ordered one of these on line and another from my nearest JL. As ever delivery was very efficient. The lights are fantastic and really brighten up my light poor kitchen. My only criticism is that the bulbs supplied were too strong to use with the dimmer switch I bought to go with them so I had to spend £16 on a dozen new light bulbs. I would have preferred to have paid less and bought the bulbs separately as i'm now left with a dozen bulbs I cant use as they are 50 watt each and the dimmer only lets me use 35 watt bulbs.
All in all would recommend but wish that they came without the bulbs. By the way the price went down by £5 after i'd ordered them.

Attractive and effective light bar
An attractive and really good light bar, but why is it not offered with the option of energy-efficient LED bulbs (or without any bulbs but at a cheaper price)? The bulbs supplied went straight to the charity shop.
