Q & As

John Lewis Spectrum DAB/FM Clock Radio 2.2 5 62 62
Spectrum alarm clock radio - can't change alarm time!! I was really pleased with the unit but one major problem. After setting alarm it doesn't seem able to change the alarm time once it has been set. This is quite frustrating and means it is not fit for purpose. This should be a basic feature. Am I missing something? How do you change the alarm time?? 25 August 2014
Clock radio alarm Looks great although changing alarm settings quite long winded but fine when you get the hang of it 19 August 2014
Poor design I echo all the other complaints about brightness, lack of displayed time etc. Plus, how on earth do you change the alarm time? 20 July 2014
Not fit for purpose or John Lewis Poorly designed: on/off switch on the back, no time display when the radio is on, too bright. All the negative reviews are correct. Mine started to cut out when moved to switch it on. Totally infuriating which is a shame for a stylish little radio. It completely stopped working last week so I returned it for a refund. Excellent customer services as usual, just surprised this product made it past quality control. 30 June 2014
Returned - Look at the V2 Spectrum Instead! I bought this in May and used it for just over a week. Agree with all the poor reviews. What use is a clock radio that doesn't show the time when the radio is on and the vibrant blue display lights the bedroom at night? Realised that on this website there is the NEW IMPROVED version of the same product called V2 Spectrum. See my REVIEW for V2 Spectrum as I am so glad I took this one back and changed it for the NEWER version that irons out many of the faults on this OLD model. I am very surprised that John Lewis is offering this OLD model alongside the new V2 at exactly the SAME PRICE! Why? 23 June 2014
Not brilliant My wife got me this for Chistmas, I agree with the other reviews about the bright light and the fact that the clock doesn't show when you have the radio on. However, I don't like to grumble and when I got it I found a way to make the display turn itself off after a few seconds so I just used it like that. The other day I thought I'd try it out with the display on again, thinking 'oh it can't be all that birght', but it is! Unfortunately, I've lost the manual so I came on here to see if there was a link to it so I could look up how to turn the light off (there isn't). Even on a low setting it's far too bright for me. If anyone has a link to the manual, I'd be pleased to have it. 10 June 2014
Alarming found difficult to see blue figures against blue background especially the slashed zeros. Replaced with Roberts dreamtime. 10 June 2014
Can't get any decent radio reception We purchased this radio last weekend and in terms of looks, size, ease of use and clarity of the time it is perfect for our 12 year old son, who chose it because he liked the design. However, we have been unable to get any sort of decent sound from the radio, despite having tried it all over the house on FM and DAB. All stations are crackly, distorted and unbearable to listen to. We don't have this problem with any other radios in the house. Not sure if we have picked up a faulty one but we will be returning it as soon as we can get back to a store (which is about 40 miles away!). A real disappointment I'm afraid. 07 June 2014
