John Lewis Spectrum DAB/FM Clock Radio
Good FM and good DAB sensitivity and reasonable audio quality, but oh dear........
The display, even set to dimmest, lights up the bedroom at night.
Once the radio is on it no longer shows the time, just the RDS/DAB station name.
The radio on-off switch (rubber buttons) is on the back
It uses a phone-type micro USB power plug which is rigid and sticks out so the unit has to be a minimum of about two inches from any other object/wall.
All controls are rubber and have little tactile feedback.
Bought two, both went back for a refund. Pity it has the limitations as otherwise it is not a bad piece of kit.

Thanks to FrontSeatPhil - haven't laughed so much for a long time!
I must be the only reviewer who was pleased with the bright displays - I bought two of these for my daughters bedrooms and they were the dimmest night lights they've ever used. And of course the girls were completely unphased by the complex instructions since they instinctively knew how to set every feature.
The observant among you will have spotted the past tense. Sadly despite a bright start, the lights have gone out on both units - though like many reviewers have said, it was more a gradual and intermittent fading away.
Having read of so many others here having similar problems I shall be calling customer services to see if they can shed any light on a solution.

Not worthy of the John Lewis Name
Dreadful piece of tat, lousy sound quality, poorly thought out operations and controls and like having a searchlight on your bedside cabinet. I took it back the next day and bought a Pure DAB/FM radio which is fine.

If ever the sun simply stops working and the world is plunged in to darkness, worry not. We can light what remains of society using the display from this alarm clock.
Residents of foreign countries have been heard to ask what the strange blue glow is that emanates from the deepest reaches of Cambridgeshire.
Sadly, it's the glow from my bedroom. Sleep is a luxury I've not been afforded since John Lewis's finest elected to use ALL THE LIGHT in each and every one of these clocks.
Not that it's particularly useful as a clock. When the radio comes on in the morning, assuming you've been able to figure out exactly which combination of random buttons needs pressing as precisely which time) you'll find that the time is henceforth simply referred to as 'BBC R2'.
I'm pretty hand with my knowledge of time, being able to follow the clock from the very beginning of the day to the very end, yet I've not heard of BBC R2. I have a suspicion that it falls around 7:30am, as there's an incessant, egotistical whining sound coming from the speaker.
I'd return it to the store but, having been temporarily blinded by daring to glance towards the display back in May, I've not been able to find the box.
Useless and frustrating in equal measure, it's probably best to avoid this clock radio and go for something else.

Tried to get to like it - and failed!
Looks nice, small footprint, OK audio quality. But....
...I tried really hard to get used to the changing the settings, but in the end have admitted that it's so unintuitive that it's better to leave it on a single setting and use my phone for anything out of the ordinary.
....the display lights up the entire room: I got a car-window film to reduce the intensity and with two layers of that it's just about OK, but you can't then read it in day light.
So nothing that doesn't actually work, but time to cut my losses and admit that I made a mistake in getting this model.

I had this for Christmas and have not been able to use it as a clock because the display is too bright even on the dimmest setting. Setting the alarm is counter intuitive and takes an age. If you want to listen to the radio you will have to turn the unit on at the back (a tiny switch) and you can't see the time any more. I've also noticed that if the unit is moved even slightly it often cuts out and resets! I can't believe that this product got to market , poor design which is not fit for purpose.

Spectrum alarm clock radio - can't change alarm time!!
I was really pleased with the unit but one major problem. After setting alarm it doesn't seem able to change the alarm time once it has been set. This is quite frustrating and means it is not fit for purpose. This should be a basic feature. Am I missing something? How do you change the alarm time??

Clock radio alarm
Looks great although changing alarm settings quite long winded but fine when you get the hang of it
