Q & As

John Lewis Spectrum Duo DAB/FM Bluetooth NFC Digital Radio 3.6 5 47 47
Yes, but . . . I bought this DAB/FM radio (black; stylish) in April '14 from the new John Lewis in York. I liked both the store and the radio. Two days ago the radio . . . stopped. All it will do when I turn it on is softly go "dong dong dong ding, dong dong dong dum, scratch scratch"; signal an almost unreadable welcome to digital radio; show a barely legible bluetooth sign; go dark; and so on. I can find no manual. What now, please? Friedrich1 14 September 2014
Which best buy?? This is the worst radio I have seen. The menu structure is really hard to use. the power connector failed within days. The sound quality is very poor. I bought it on the strength of a rave review from Which? John Lewis did refund my money without question. That was the best bit 13 September 2014
Does it not have an alarm?! I've just bought this radio and it looks great, chose the mint colour, good sound etc. But, I can't seem to find the settings for an alarm? I can see two pictures of alarms on the screen but there is nothing in the instruction book or any of the settings (that I can see). I bought it to replace my broken radio alarm unit and now it looks like I'm going to have to take it back. 29 August 2014
Great radio I received this radio after picking it out as one of my birthday presents. It has everything I need, with the Bluetooth connectivity to my phone, easy pre-set stations and bold colours. For use as a speaker, it is easy to connect and produces great quality sound. When you use it as a radio, it tells you what song is playing so you don't have to run to find shazam! Overall I would definitely recommend this radio for something to take to university or just to have at home. 24 August 2014
A good product Clear, easy to set up and use, Which? Magazine best buy, at a good price 29 July 2014
Can't make it work I ordered this yesterday, it arrived today, and we've not managed to make it work. The display tells me" the time is not set", but gives no instructions in the booklet on how to set it. So no channels are found. I have no patience with irritating technology, but three of us, including a techy teenager have tried and failed. So it'll go back to John Lewis. 18 July 2014
So thrilled with this radio! Couldn't wait to write a GLOWING review about my new radio which arrived today, as a requested birthday gift to replace my 20 year old analogue radio. It is brilliant. Setting up is child's play (just plug in and switch on - everything else happens automatically). The sound is crystal clear and of very high quality. The casing is solid and definitely not flimsy in any way. The colour is 'drawing ink' - a deep blue/purple shade which looks great. We have faultless reception and the sound is perfect. Can't recommend it highly enough. Am tempted to buy one for every room. Need I say more? 14 July 2014
So good, I bought a second! I was a bit sceptical about buying a cheap DAB radio, but a very helpful Partner recommended this radio. Half expecting to be taking it back, I took it home and plugged it in. It took 2 minutes to set up, it found dozens of stations and it sounds far better than I expected. It's also attractive, in a terrific colour, and it's very tactile. Two days later, I decided to get another of these radios in another colour for our kitchen. Reception for phones, radios etc. is poor on our ground floor, so again I was expecting to be taking it back. Not at all; the second one works just as well and is just as attractive. I'll update the review if either radio packs up unreasonably early. But at the minute I am very happy indeed. 12 July 2014
